Default Who likes their dreams freaky!!!

I do!!!

Some of you may know I'm trying to quit smoking via the patch system. Normally I take it off before sleeping, because of the side effect of nightmares. Well, I slept without it yesterday, got up, took a shower and put one on ASAP, so I wouldn't break down and walk to the convenience store and get a pack. Then I made up a homemade meal replacement shake because the breakfast dishes were still dirty and I needed to get food in me ASAP to counter the eight hours of starvation.

Everything was going well, until about four hours later, I suddenly got tired again and decided to take a nap. I didn't want to take off the patch, because I just put the damned thing on, so I slept with it.

WHOA!!! It was some crazy, vivid, freaking dreaming repleat with Cthulhu (I think), unknown women straddling me, Luke Skywalker and a slew of angled hallways, melting faces and strange rooms, but in all of this, I wasn't afraid at all, so I can't classify it as a nightmare. Mostly, I was in anticipation of what would happen next.

I'm sleeping with the patch from now on.

Who needs drug? Not I! I just need some sleep.

I'm tired of my freaky dreams. Once in a while is fine...but I've been having them a few times a night, every night, for the past few months. I'm thinking they are medication-induced as well. You get tired of it, literally, after a while.

Just as long as Luke Skywalker wasn't straddling you, I think you will be just fine. LOL

Name this movie quote:

Uhh...I'm at a loss.

Mahler, no, Skywalker was flying the Millenium Falcon through a massive, I mean really massive, under ground laboratory and that's where I caught a glimps of Cthulhu (in a vat of preservation fluid). However, at times I think it was me in the role of Skywalker.

Close Gobbla, but incorrect.

Freud would have a field day with you, Cynic. Well, if he wasn't dead and stuff.

Freud's greatest contribution is creating the field, but he had too much stuff wrong. He believed the Oedipus complex was a desire to kill your father and sleep with your mother, totally disregarding the the fact that the protagonist tried to escape his fate and then attempts a redemption of a past he can't undo.

For me, the story is about futility.

Cynic, I've been known to have a few freaky dreams myself, and have actually posted about them here. You seem to have a leg up on Freud so perhaps you could help with intetpretation:

Number 1

Number 2

Do you like being the center of attention? Do you have a friends you like, maybe protective of, but don't consider your equal? Or...working off the last idea, do you have friends you think are more follower than leader, even though you think they are superior?

Are you a fan or have respect for Georgia state?

Speculation: The squirrel is a small, likable furry, something rather innocuous, but the tranformation to a super hero in a time of trouble (the aliens) is a sharp contrast. Someone you trust when the going gets tough, even though they are very likable, friendly and unassuming under normal conditions.

Hmm, interesting questions... let me try it on you now, based on your freaky dream:

Have you ever wanted to be a spelunker? Did you repeatedly watch the ark-opening scene in "Raiders of the Lost Ark"?

Are you a rodeo fan? Was your father a man of promise who ended up turning evil and killing many children in the process, but not before building a droid that would serendipitously be with you through many trials while you tracked your father down to bring out the good in him by letting his more-evil pyscho-boss almost kill you with lightning?

Speculation: You're a good-hearted male who likes sci-fi and action films, but sometimes feels lost in the maze of life and sometimes you're not even sure what you're looking for. And you like being straddled by women.

Diagnosis: Normal.

Probably more true than I want to admit.

Sure, I'm going over the tutorials right now. I've done some of this, before even knowing what it was (realization of dreamstate and dream control).

Oh yeah! One I can recall is flying, which is common, but because of my fear of heights, all my flying is 3' off the ground (most times).

As I realized I was dreaming, I learned to control it and I could get some altitude.

ok! many people who gain control of thier dream have recurring dreams before.. mine was of something that happened (seeing a bull in the same field as we were, when kite flying with my family) .. at 5 yrs old I had the same nightmare over and over. it got less strong by the time I was 8 and by the time I was about 12.. it was like "ahh no.. not that dumb dream again" I think that's what set me up to later (17) start realizing I when I was dreaming.
