So I finally settled the car thing! A 1994 Nissan Maxima 4dr.
The engine is immaculate, the body is amazingly well-maintained, and the brakes and tires are top notch. Only 114k on it (not bad for a 12 year old car).
Now, the horn doesn't work, and the digital lights for the radio and clock don't work either. These aren't surprises, just things I chose to deal with because of the quality of the important aspects.
Anyway, you guys know what these might take to fix? The dealer is going to take care of the horn (he HAS to by state law)... just wondering about potential time and money spent.
Congrats on a good choice. The light for the radio is probably an integral part of the radio, same for the clock. Therefor, if the radio and clock work it isn't a fuse problem. Likely both bulbs are just burned out. Buy a little flashlight, much less expensive.
Sounds like the radio probably has led type lights that show radio station/time. Flashlight won't help if that's the case. Most radio's particularly 12 years old, aren't worth repairing. Time for a trip to best buy. You could get a new radio for under a hundred bucks unless you are looking for some special features. You'll need the tunes for the drive from MA to LR. Do you have a bike rack? You can probably get your gas paid for by other JP Forumites you can pick up on the way. ROAD TRIP!!!!
