Re: So who is going to make it to the retreat this year?
I don't think I'll be in the regular sessions but I fully expect to see some of you out on the town or I may take some of you up Pinnacle Mountain on Sunday morning. Good for the quads.

DAMN IT!
No go for me, airfare is just to steep. I am planning on going back to school this fall if all the ducks manage to get in a line, so once that is done in a couple of years maybe I can come play.

Would that be a hike or a ride? I haven't ridden a bike in two years, and never off road. I used to hike a lot, but haven't at all in about three years (nothing more than short strolls, at least). Could be fun.

I ripped these out of Cappy's log from October 30th, hope she doesn't mind too much.

It is a cool place, and a fun hike. About 3/4 of a mile and about 700 feet of elevation change I think, and I also think that the peak is just over 1000 feet.
Re: So who is going to make it to the retreat this year?
Thanks, Buk. I edited in an info link above in my other post, too. Probably need to buy some new footwear for that; I've only got running shoes these days.
Re: So who is going to make it to the retreat this year?
Pinnacle is a relatively easy hike. Up, over and around is about 3.5 miles. My fastest time on it is around 45 minutes. The up on the east summit trail (the steepest trail in the state) is only about a mile. Running shoes are fine unless it's really wet.
On Christmas morning ODBSGIRL and I did it and saw a bald eagle flying out toward the lake just under us. We have also had a coyote run just in front of us (about 10 feet!). Sunday morning is best while everyone else is at church. This is my kind of religious experience! Also it's about 15 minutes from JP Fitness. This place is awesome. And yes, it's one of MY parks!
Re: So who is going to make it to the retreat this year?
Okay, the deal is sealed and the ticket is non-refundable.
I will get to Little Rock on Thursay, April 6 at about 5 PM.
I am totally stoked and practicing saying "fuck" so I can keep up with Alwyn, but, he's just such an expert.
And, Rob, watch out for the exchange rate. I hear they still give Confederate Currency in Little Rock to unsuspecting furreners.
Re: So who is going to make it to the retreat this year?
I was thinking about bringing my bike, or buying a new one, but there is no way I could keep up with any of you riders. Plus I don't want to get tired before I go to Disney the following week - I need to be tapering.

LOL, John. I knew that Alwyn and I had something in common. I just didn't realize that is was a mastery of the f-word.

Are you kidding by the time Rob gets down here with his tapes he will sound like and East Texas Hillbilly.
I'm in. I just need to stop procrastinating and buy the d@#$ tickets.
Re: So who is going to make it to the retreat this year?
It sounds like the possibility of both hiking and mountain biking on Sunday. There may be a limited number of loaner bikes. Lots' of possibilites we are still working on. I've got to get JP in this conversation!

Hey Buk, I'll ride with you. I have to work really hard to even come close to hangin with most of these guys, especially considering the complete lack of saddle time I've had lately. We can ride easy and talk about your pilgrimage to mouse mecca.
