It's been over a month and nothing has been done. Is Don gonna get this thing done? Would be nice to have Lou back since some of the big names left last year.
Re: Hey JP, is Don gonna fix this things sometime?
dont get your panties all in a wad sport, just be glad you have free access to all this info
jp and don will fix it when they fix it.....what, you expect a weekly status report now?
if you were a paying customer maybe your concerns would be warranted but since this is all on jp's dime, no one wants to hear your or anyone elses incessant whinning about when's the forum getting fixed, when's the forum getting fixed....

Is your name JP?

you can't expect other poster not to reply to threads on a public message boards. there is a pm function if you want to keep things private between two posters.

It's been over a month.. and we don't see results.. but alot has been tried and done.
I read somewhere that the Programmer that JP is working with now.. has even been working on it during his vacation.
Weather they will succeed in doing it or not.. I don't think anybody has a crystal ball to see the future.. but I sure feel they are trying as hard as they can.
I totally agree that it "would be nice" to have everything as it was and even better as JP wants it to be.. and as long as JP isn't giving up neither am I, but I think all we can do now.. is support and encourage them.
Re: Hey JP, is Don gonna fix this things sometime?
I work in IT and the only time things get delayed this long are very few. Either JP is getting all this for free and has to wait for their time to become free, the guy either doesn't know what he is doing and is delaying, doesn't care and is letting it slide, or the client is getting too picky and won't let it go ahead because everything isn't 100%.
Re: Hey JP, is Don gonna fix this things sometime?
Two things:
1. I'm with lax. Not just because I miss Lou's posts, but because we don't pay JP a dime, but he HAS shelled out tons of money on this thing and it seems the process is slow to get anywhere. This new forum moves super fast, but I know there's a lot of changes JP wanted that just haven't happened yet. For all the effort and time he puts into this thing, you'd expect more to have been done.
2. Jack - of course in a public forum you're more than welcome to comment on other people's posts, but we don't kindly to unprovoked attacks. Lax is a longstanding member of this forum, and he's just asking a question. We've seen a lot of great names in fitness in this place, while none of us demand a right to communicate with these people, we DO enjoy their presence.
That is all
Re: Hey JP, is Don gonna fix this things sometime?
Just a thought JP is there anyway to extract the posts that were made if not attached to the profile????
I know how it must feel to have made so many posts (and only going from readings since I joined) of fundamental significance not just to the people on the board but to yourself.
I'll use me as an example (yikes always me me me but cant use anyone else can I!). My life was online on MH for 3 years, It took me through a long and winding and challenging path in numerous areas of my life that I wont go into. through that time it supported me and I in turn supported others with motivation, guidance and a shoulder to cry on. But the reason I like to look back as it shows me not the written journey I had taken as the posts didnt always reveal that, but the spiritual and mental journey at the time.
I think if all Mahler was referring to were insignificant posts making comments like "incesant whining" and not adding value then fair enough; or even heaven forbid yikes a training log but we are not talking that.
Its different its far more personal and its like losing a chunk of your life through memory loss.
So maybe instead of complaining about others attitudes it would be better to understand why they feel as they do and even heaven forbid offer a condolence or support.
No it wont speed the process up by checking all the while but to acknowledge why they feel so strongly about it would make it less of a bitter pill
Re: Hey JP, is Don gonna fix this things sometime?
kmwest says:"Can't you just call it a loss and make a new profile for Mahler, etc.? Sucks for them, but how much money have you sunk into this? "
jax says:"agreed. some lost post counts and screen names really isn't that tragic in the grand scope of things. "
jack bauer says:"no one wants to hear your or anyone elses incessant whinning about when's the forum getting fixed, when's the forum getting fixed.... "
OKAY, GET READY FOR THIS ONE, BOYS.
I have offered on three occasions to let this thing drop. The first when I talked to JP on the phone, the first week. Then two additional times by e-mail. The most recent just yesterday, when I returned from vacation and saw that he was still having problems. My offer was to simply create the "mahler" screen name and manually set the post count and registration date and just "fVck" the lost posts. On each of these three occasions, JP pleaded with me not to give up and told me he wanted me to be fully restored at any cost. I DID NOT MAKE THAT CALL, JP DID! He obviously felt that my contributions to this forum and some others who were deleted were worth the effort.
I have bitten my tongue long enough on this and will do so no longer. JP is a good man and bears no blame for these problems. In my humble opinion, as the initiator of this thread has pointed out, the emperor has no clothes and the IT folks, or whatever they call themselves, have no clue what they are doing. There are several guys on here who know a thing or two and have made similar remarks about testing and debugging before going live, etc.
I am fVcking, sick and tired of being told that I am whining and I am even more sick and tired of posting under an assumed name because I have no doubt that anyting I post is like flushing a toilet and may be lost when and if my original profile is restored. If it isn't lost, it will become just one more disjointed fragment of my screen personna. More than likely, both will be lost, if these guys do the stellar job they have done so far.
It's oh so easy to say, move on. It's no big loss. Well you know what? That's because it's my loss not yours. I am six weeks into my training for the year and unable to start a training log. I post the motivator each Monday with no guarantee that it will survive the next down time. I have moderated the S2B forum and all the information gathered on that program is in limbo. I put some time and effort into a few of the things I post and more than a few on here appreciate that and have said so. Their support and encouragement is very much appreciated. And if you wouldn't consider your own posts a big loss, then maybe you should try putting a little more intelligence and quality into some of the things you post and not use this forum as your playground to throw jibes at others and as your personal flame machine. You think I'm whining, well tough fVcking shit. Some of the crap you post is worse than whining, because you set out to belittle people and your only motivation is in the negative. So, in the spirit of your negative motivation. BITE ME.
Re: Hey JP, is Don gonna fix this things sometime?
I don't know how JP keeps his head from exploding. Simular to lax it REALLY seems like the techies are giving him the bone. No way should it take this long ESPECIALLY if they're getting payed by the hour. That's utter bullsh*t.

Thankfuly JB I havent had the pleasure of being at the end of your acid tongue but Im sure its only a matter of time.
Everyone else on this board seems to want to encourage, motivate and help others, I guess you chose a different approach to be different. Perhaps we are all over looking the obvious and you in are need of help?
So what is it you feel others have done to you on here to make you so bitter and jaded? Did they not pay enough attention to your posts at the beginning?
So why dont you take this as your opportunity to tell us your story? tell us your woes and how you want to change and put your life right?
If you dont then why not go join another board where you can add value, preferably your own little board as Im sure before long you will be the only one listening to you!

Re: Hey JP, is Don gonna fix this things sometime?
John (Mahler), I'm sorry for your troubles. I know JP has been sleepless over these issues because he does not want to lose your posts or those of Lou. FWIW, I'm sure you know he's suffering over this as well.
I'll take Mahler in any form I can get him - temp or otherwise. But Lou hasn't been posting at all and I really miss his responses and posts. TS - we'll we're getting a partial strength dose of him, as can be seen here, so it's like he hasn't even been gone.
PS: Don't know where to put this comment, so I'll put it here. Hey Shark, I'm really enjoying your writings. Sure, I don't agree with them a lot, and some of them are the problems of someone who is too young to know what real problems are , but your writing style is always entertaining and informative. Sorry if you have already mentioned this, but are you looking to become a writer of some sort? And are you going to the retreat/summit/whateverthehell itiscalled? You're on my short list of people I'd like to meet in person.
