Default Life goals

Rockhard's "quandry" got me reflecting a little bit about my life and where I'm headed and what I'm doing. A long time ago (well tens years or so) I made a list of things I wanted to accomplish in life. I've since lost the list, but there are some things I remember.
1. run a marathon (taking care of that this year)
2. get something published (other than a letter to the editor- got one in MH)
3. learn a musical instrument (play a little guitar)
4. travel (saw a little bit of the world in the Army
And a few othr things I'd maybe keep secret

I was wondering if anyone else had a list like this.

hummm...I had goals when I was young.. and

-I've had a house, lost it, had an other one, lost it, have one
-I've been to some world championships in fencing and travelled for competitions from Vancouver to Istamboul
-I've done many shorter and one 500k wilderness canoe trip
-I've had a career.. lost it.. can't do it anymore..
-I wanted 3-4 children.. could only have one but feel terrible lucky to have him

I really can't seem to have definate goals anymore..
too many times life has made me change them..
but these things are important to me,
[*]have a good communication with my son [*]have a meaningful and happy realationship with someone [*]do my best to keep healthy and fit[*]have friends[*]be passionate about something[*]participate in someway in helping others
1. I got healthy; I want to stay healthy
2. Learn a sport; I know the rules to several, but I've never been a sports fan or player. Now that I'm more fit, sports look like more fun.
3. Learn the guitar. At least a little bit.
4. Cook more, but that will come when I have someone to cook for again.
5. Find someone to cook for.
6. Try not to dwell on the past so much, yet, still learn from my mistakes.

On that last note, there are some things I wish I'd done in life that I can no longer, realistically, do. However, they are "lessons learned."

1. I never graduated from college. I barely even went... Having a degree doesn't necessarily make your career better, but it keeps your options open, especially, if you're looking for a career change.

2. I once planned to join the military. I think that would have given me the kick in the pants that I really needed. I regret this decision. If either of my kids decided to serve, I would be very proud.

yep, i've got a list- it's getting to be bigger and bigger than I originally set out for but I'm really happy with it. I'm slowly achieving things and am replacing them with others.
