My boyfriend was scanning the Feb issue of Men's Journal while waiting to get a haircut. He noticed an article (small) on winter proofing your hands. He says it focused on about 6 different lotions/salves for extremely chapped or dry hands. I have dry hands and would like to know the six types/brands they recommended. Of course, he left the mag at the barber shop and didn't write them down. So, do any of you have a copy of this mag? If so, would you mind letting me know what the lotions/salves were? I know this is a long shot, but figured I would give this eclectic crew a shot! Thanks!!!!
I don't have the mag but herbacin kamille in the green tube is really good.. bag balm is one i know alot of ppl use if you can get past the way it smells..lol
Anything with shea butter will do a great job. I have horribly dry skin and after years of looking, this is what has fixed my problem. My daughter's hands get so bad, they feel what I imagine elephant skin would feel like: dry, thick and rough.
i bought my mom crabtree and evelyn's "gardeners hand therapy/lotion" (i can't remember which) and the "cooks hand therapy/lotion" they're both made to hold up. the cooks lotion repels some of the water that drains the mositure from your hands when they're constantly in water and the gardeners won't jsut rub off on anything unlike other lotions. her hands have allergic reactions to stuff so they dry and crack easily -- both of those seem to work really well for her and they don't smell bad at all. just an fyi if you have dry chapped lips in the winter (like i do) stay away from burt's bees lip balms- they have peppermint oil in them which just helps to dry your lips out more, causing you to use more of the stuff
