It's as cold here.. but we don't have any snow now :/ I could send you the guy who has the contract to plow the snow from our driveway.. he REALLY hasn't had much work this year! (but we still have to pay him :/)
It was -10 or so during the day here yesterday I think, with about a -25 windchill. The fact that it was either snowing most of the day, or the snow was being blown off the roofs on campus made it that much worse.
It amazes me that people are still willing to go outside at parties to grab a smoke despite the sub zero temperatures...now that's dedication.
Sheeesh.... Yesterday it was 3 degrees all day with wind chill of -13. Worked out in it all day. My face is wind burnt. Fortunately I had on about 5 thin layers. I love my new job! I hate being behind a desk. Bring on the cold.
9 degrees here today with a tough wind, but at least I have power again. We lost power Friday afternoon and didn't get it back until this afternoon (48 hours later). That sucked! Dark, cold and constantly worrying about pipes freezing. I never want to go through that again.

I so understand you. I was in the 1998 Ice-storm .. No power for 3 weeks.. lived 5 days with candles and fondue fuel before moving to my brother's place. (The army was evacuating everyone who was not properly equiped and the temps were to go down to -25°C (-13°F) that evening. I felt the cold for 3 years afterwards! and when we bought a house, made sure to have a gaz generator and fireplace.

Ha! I was staioned at Ft. Drum in upatate New York for that one. I was in the process of getting out and they tried to delay my leaving to help. But in the end I got out on time. Talk about miserable. We didn't have power (or had very limited) for a week or so either on post eating MREs and box lunches in cold barracks. Yay.

BFG yup.. under -18°C... I really don't like it.. but sometimes I wonder if it's not just phsychological.. -18°C is the 0°F that I grew up with.. (we changed from F to C when I was in my late 20s or 30s)
I do remember sometimes getting dressed up real well and going for a walk with my ex in those temps when we lived in Monréal.. was Ghostly.. no-one in the streets.
ah must be our blood getting thinner as we get old then???? or is it just the fact that we adjust to central heating more now.... I remember waking at my nans house in the winter when the coal fire downstaire had gone out and there used to be ice inside on the bedroom window!!!!!!!!!!
Yes BFG and you would pull those extra Flour Bag Quilts up over you and dread the thought of your feet hitting the cold oil cloth floor.Talk about a quick wakeup. You would then run downstairs and open the coal stove oven door and stick your feet in to warm them up again.
All the while , hopefully, Nan would be toasting that home made bread over the coals for you and pouring you a good cup of tea.
Yesterday was only about 10 or so, but no wind at all. Spent the whole afternoon sled riding with the kids. We picked a short steep hill at a friends place and tied a 150' rope to the hitch on my truck and to a large inner tube. When you hit the end of the rope everyone comes off in a big pile, then climb back on and pull it back up the hill with the truck. We did that for hours until everyone was too cold and it started getting dark.
Right now is 14 with a 25mph wind, and I'm heading out to worm horses. Should be a blast, haha.
Thought this might cool ya'll down...it won't be long till it's baaack!

Yeah, but fall is closer - arguably the best time of year in Wisconsin. Plus, Packer Training Camp has started. First pre-season game Aug 12!
