LOL! I never knew a loud pair of running shoes with stripes the color of Dorothy's ruby slippers could hold so much power....

I probably couldn't even give you a reasonable rundown of what shoes my wife wears. She asks me all of the time whether I have seen this pair or that pair of the girls' shoes. What is she thinking - I'm not even aware that they wear them.

Haha yeah, it was so weird when I got commissioned and the Master Sergeant from the recruiting office kept calling me sir. He's already put in his 20 and is nearing retirement, and I'm not even 22 yet. Granted, that's not exactly your normal working environment, but wow...

It's not the uniform, it's me.

If you dream it, they will come. Either that, or they'll pass by. Yeah, probably that.

That's the point Bama. Men don't notice women's shoes (and when we do, they either are very thankful, especially if it's a special, new pair, OR they get distinctly nervous, like maybe you're one of those foot fetish guys--you decide if it's worth the risk).

That being said, women definitely notice men's shoes, and it's sometimes enough to be a deal breaker/maker--"nice guy, well put together...but those shoes? NEXT!" V. "He's kind of interesting, good guy, funny...and damned if he doesn't have the best shoes."

I gotta agree with Fish on this one. I have gotten a lot of positive attention from the ladies by having nice shoes. A couple good pairs of shoes goes a long way.

And I also agree with OldGuy. I notice girls shoes all the time. If I don't like a girls shoes, she is out.

Man, that confused the hell out of me. Detour is (was?) the name of one of the more popular gay bars around Calgary. So I was trying to understand how that worked.

On another note, nice shoes Bama Dave!

Ruma, I had named you my Favorite Person in Asia because of your generosity in sharing the Chicken Biryani recipe (which I still need to try to make!), but now you have captured my title for the Eastern Hemisphere. Thank you!!

As far as the shoes - I bought them, but of course it had nothing at all to do with the style or Ruby Slippers color. However, the minute my wife saw them she said, "Oh, I REALLY like those!" She probably doesn't like them as much now that they are dirty and soaked with sweat most of the time, stinking up the bathroom. Even our dachshund puppies seem to leave them alone.

OK, I developed another roll of film and have more pictures from my graduation/commissioning. This is perhaps my favorite, mainly because I like looking at my friend's picture. The tassel was tasty.

I must say, I do notice shoes. Good ones may not be noticed but the wrong pair definately turns me off.

Were you wearing your finest pair of shoes?
