I plan on using VoicePulse as soon as I get around to changing it. A couple of guys I work with have it and they like it. The one problem is it doesn't have 911 dialing, but I guess I'll use my cell.

I've looked into it, but since VoIP does not yet support 911 services, I'd still have to have a landline. So, at this point in time, it's just not worth it. The reason being is that 911 services cannot locate your home via VoIP if you just can't get it out as to where you are. In my neck of the woods (and I MEAN WOODS), I'd even be concerned that even with my GSM cell phone that our 911 operator wouldn't be able to find me without a landline.

I have been using Vonage for about 6 or 7 month’s without any issues. My phone bill is never over $28.00. I love getting any voice mails people leave sent to my e-mail address that I can play on my computer wherever I am.
While the 911 service is somewhat of an issue, this will be taken care of soon as they enhance the service. Until then you do need to let the 911 operator know your address as it does not pop-up on their screen. If you can get by that issue then I would recommend it.

I use Vonage...and it has 911 dialing. When you sign up for it, you have to enter a 911 Dialing Address. I guess somehow that address gets relayed to the Emergency operator when you call in.
By the way, the service is great, and it's $27 after all taxes and fees for unlimited calls nationwide plus all the special account features (caller ID, voicemail, etc.).

When you call 911 it goes to a local switchboard (this is why they need to know your address), however they do not see your address when you call, you must tell it to them.

Well, well, well, perhaps then I need to look again at VoIP.
Wait! I just remembered. 'Cause I live in the sticks, my number would utlimately be long distance from next door!!! Meaning that anyone who'd call me that would normally be a local call, would now be long distance for them. There just aren't any local numbers available for my area yet.

I kept my same phone number. However, you get choose whatever area code you want. This allows people that have relatives in other states to choose a specific area code so when their relatives call it is not a long distance call for them.

[/quote]Bro, I live so far out in the woods of Arkansas, calling the next county is long distance. I can't even keep my current phone number. I'd have to have a number in Fayetteville, AR or Memphis, TN. So, when my neighbor tries to call me, he'd be making a long distance phone call.

This concludes my Vonage sales presentaiton. Handouts are available upon request.

Apparently you have to be careful with monitored burglar alarms. You need to contact your security company to see if VoIP is compatible.
