I realized yesterday that I somehow have posted here over 1000 times. It took me much longer to reach this point than some (cough, cough, Training Girl, cough, cough, Ninja) , but it happened. So, following Mahler's (I mean 'Prime Motivator's') lead of milestone posts, I thought back to the time I reached this point over at the MH forum. It wasn't too long after that point, I defected over here because of the quality of the posts (and lack of it over there). Yesterday, for the first time in months, I ventured into the land of 'How do I get Brad Pitt's abz?' and 'Penis Lines' to see if any of my posts were still there. Lo and behold, I stumbled into my 1000th over there.

Well, I've reached my first 1000 posts. While I'll contribute to the tradition of milestone posts, I don't think that there is anything profound I could say now that would be better than some of the other 1000 club posts. There are some wise, knowledgeable guys and gals here.
You see a lot of posts here from former lurkers who have decided to come out of the shadows and begin to interact with the knowledge base that is available on this board. That is exactly how I found this board. I realized that I never really introduced myself into this cyber-community.
If you have read some of my posts, you know that I am in the vicinity of Popeye's age, which makes me a little older than most of the members. When I was younger, I took fitness for granted. I was in decent shape, but nothing spectacular. Then Mother Nature took over and there went the hair, and here came the pounds. I helped her along with some pretty poor choices on what, and how much I ate. I partied my way through my 30's and I began to look the part. (But, damn I had fun). Then came the early 40s, and along with that, here came high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Along with those wonderful additions to my life, came handfuls of pills. Climbing stairs was now an exercise that winded me after 2 flights. Something had to change
A friend of me recommended MH magazine as a source of information and motivation. I then found this board. The board has become my source of information, opinions, AND motivation.
I lost 30 lbs, lost 40 points on the blood pressure, and about 50 points on the cholesterol number. I also lost some of the pills. I now know what clean eating is, along with creatine, TAP, curling in the squat rack, BoM, CLA, lunges, penis lines and a host of other terms. I had to face the fact that I was 'addicted' to this board.
You may have noticed that a lot of my posts are cynical and sarcastic. I am exactly the same way in person. This board is not just about fitness and nutrition, but bonding with brothers (and sisters) that share common interests. Make no mistake about it; I am committed to my goals as much as the most passionate person here. I am also committed to supporting others with their goals as well. I have taken some initiative to learn more about diet, exercise mechanics and theory. Although I am not giving up my current profession, I am pursuing a certification in this field. You know, a guy needs to have opportunities and possibilities, and mine should be in something I really am in to.
So, the purpose of my 1000th post is that I want to say a big 'Thank You' to all the guys here that have helped me to get to this point, as well as tolerating my smart-assed comments. I only hope that I can contribute to others as you guys have to me.
Michael
I found it interesting because it is exactly how I feel about JP's board. I also laughed after reading it again because I now realize how much better the quality is here than it was over there. Don't get me wrong, there were and still are quality folks over there, but this is a much better run board. That is a direct reflection on JP, the moderators, and all the members of the JPFitness community.
So, once again I am saying 'Thanks' to all my 'cyberfriends'. You guys (and gals) make the time spend here definitely worth it.

Well, maybe a good bit more muscular than I was 5 years ago, PGPY (pre-gym, pre-personal trainer). But ripped? No way, particularly after just having eaten myself halfway through Savannah and Charleston!
I categorically deny having made that claim for myself. It's Jean-Paul's fantasy....

This was a smartass comment post, right, Michael? Just a little confused ...
(Congrats on the milestone. Now that you're muscular and ripped, it must be time to post some pics ... )

Ha ha....that's a good one. It seems that my age (along with booze, pizza and a shoulder injury) is preventing me for achieving that. Still, I am not ready to give up the fight.

That was just a "get-you-back" smart-ass post on my part, Michael. You should have just said "touche" and left it at that. LMAO.
Is the last line a promise?
PS Seriously, congrats on your grand. I hope I can be as eloquent when it comes to my turn.
PPS Your sig line makes a lot of sense these days.

No more than normal, Jamie. After I posted that I realized that Rob probably already has posted his somewhere. I still have a little work to do before I make everybody sick to their stomach.

Your new avatar is getting us pretty close.
Um, yeah, I must agree that I'm finding your new avatar more offensive than even papaloads last one. Perhaps we should take a vote?

Oh wait! Are you saying that some board administrator, who shall at this time remain nameless, pre-emptively changed your avatar and LEFT papaloads avatar alone?!?!?!?!
That's simply WRONG! I'd cry foul, BIG TIME!!!!

Um, yeah, sure......I think I'd rather have a t-shirt with my own picture on it. Or, perhaps and autographed life-sized poster of me hanging in my house!
