Usually I'd post this in the diet & nutrition section, but we all know that there are more people looking in here!

I've found myself without any cottage cheese or other casein-based protein. Now I'm certainly not panicking (after all it's just one night) but I'm kind of at a loss as to what would be SECOND best for bedtime nutrition.

These two options seemed to be pretty good:

1) chicken breast with olive oil
2) shake with whey, coconut oil, flax seeds

I'm thinking either of those would be relatively slow-absorbing.

What do you guys think? One of these, or drag my tired self out into the icy rain and buy some CC?

In the diet & nutrition section you will probably get a useful response. I am thinking I might have some popcorn because I already had a huge bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.

I am so bad at eating good food, that is why I have to work so hard. I think my bigger problem isn't eating it, but having it around, avaliable and not being too lazy to prepare it. I need to spend a few weeks hanging out, cooking, and eating with someone who is dedicated to a good diet to help me get on track. And also need someone to keep my fridge stocked with healthy choices.

I am open to some suggestions too - but I am getting hungry and I don't enjoy the cottage cheese.

I'd pop some BCAA's and not worry about the CC until the morning.

One night isn't going to catabolize your muscle so much that it will make a difference.

Just do the whey n water. Also, Milk is a good source of Casein. Just don't take it along with your ZMA (if you take it) because Zinc fights for absorption with calcium.

Hope this helps

I grabbed a big bushel of grapes, 8oz. They were good, but I would still enjoy more food. I am pretty much always hungry.

i talked with my school nutrionist and she told me that protein was protein and there really wasnt such a thing as slow digesting protein (casein, milk protein isolate, ...). she said the different kinds of protein are all digested in relatively the same amount of time. what do you guys have to say about this?

PaPaLoAdS, there was an article about it on t-nation not a long while ago. It basically explained that though whey would generally get absorbed faster than casein they're still both VERY SLOW DIGESTING proteins, so it doesn't make much of a difference.
I'm guessing the fat in the oil and nuts could slow the digestion down some, so anything rich in protein combined with those should be good? (??)
