Happy birthday, Jean-Paul!And I have a little birthday bouquet for you, a bouquet of words, phrases, and sentences.

Sometimes the JPF board gets a lttle slow on weekends, when the working members don’t have access to the internet at work. So Saturdays and Sundays are good times to surf, and see what turns up. One site turned up today with a tone very different from Jean-Paul’sgift to cyberspace. There was a whole lot of nasty, obscene invective for one thing.

But some things of interest did turn up, like this advice from someone who was a little crabby about spelling—
Quote:
List of words to learn to spell:
Rights instead of Rihts
beliefs instead of belifes
follow instead of follwo
different instead of difrent
according instead of acording
greater instead of grater
atheist instead of athiest

Apostrophe use:
That's instead of thats
Don't instead of dont
It's instead of its
And then there was a very touching mini-memoir of a young man. If he had gone on longer it would have been as good as any short story in The New Yorker.
Quote:
well, i cant say i am perfect though. i have a truck but i dont have a good full time job, i work at the car wash. i dont have a girl friend, i tryed talking to a girl i used to like a long time ago, i saw her at my graduation party at high school but i had no idea who she was until like the last week of high school, long story short, i went up to her but didnt know what to say to her. i havnt seen her since, man we had some great times, but no i dont have one. i dont hunt but i used to fish, man its been a while, but i know people who hunt and would like to try someday.
Then there were comments on the issues of the day, such as evolution and human origins—
Quote:
evolution is a fucking joke. if we evolved from monkeys, and there are monkeys still around, then why arent any of the middle stages still walkin around n shit? see, evolution is the biggest bullshit ever. It's just an excuse that athiests use to reassure themselves that theres not a god.

With all the evidence of spaceships having landed on earth over 2000 years ago, It is highly possible that we are not even of this planet. Earth could have been a prison grounds for another planet, just as Australia had been a prison colony for the Brits.
Gay marriage--
Quote:
i completely agree to kick you ass. i aint not inbread, im from connecticut, which is one of the lesser of the gay or inbread states. faggetfaggetfagget
faggetfaggetfaggetfaggetfagget

Being gay is just not normal. Not even animals have such "special intrests" so why should we? Have you ever heard of two animals fucking the same sex? It's just plain wrong....

very interesting how a lot of staight men hang out to much with their buddys and the wife gets sick of it. I think most so called staight men are afraid they might be gay too. An awful lot of them sure love their buddys more then they do women. You know guys you can be gay without having sex. Think about that when you are out drinking with the guys and ignoring you family. Most be why so many straight men are so homophomic.

When little kids see Mommy and Daddy setting examples it is the little childs instinct to copy whatever it is that they are doing. If the child sees that his TWO dads are in a loving relationship together, that little boy is going to grow up thinking its OK to be with another little boy because that kind of shit is what he was exposed too from little on. Hence, the childs mind is fucked up. So he grows up to be a filthy little pussy-ass faggot, because thats what his parents were. Kids catch on very quickly and they resemble their parents.
Animal rights and behavior—
Quote:
And speaking of chickens if you have ever had chickens you will notice immediately that they are pretty vicious themselves in their chicken ways. They will pick at any chicken that is weak until it dies, any chicken with an open scratch or wound they will pick at until dead and THEN…THEN..YES are you READY? They eat the dead ones, chickens are cannibals! And they also have intercourse with the dead corpse! I stand by my opinion there is no comparison between Animals and Humans.

the cat doesn’t have a vendetta against the caught mouse. It didn’t see the mouse looking at it wrong or find sleeping with its wife. It kills the mouse because it is its nature, just as ours is to hunt deer and other creatures, then what do we do? We sometimes eat it or hang its antlers on the wall. And when I went hunting with a group of 30, many of the men had intercourse with the dying deer because they wanted "The last dying jitters."

Are you serious? I have hunted with a number of gangs and never seen any body drop and fuck a dying deer! Those kinda guys are way off the banjo string if you ask me.

It could just be because i live in Hickville, USA, but im just going off my personal experiences. I would like to think that it is just the rednecks that do that but it just proves that us and animals are alike. Chickens and rednecks hump dead animals

So are you saying you fucked a dead animal?
Abortion and capital punishment—
Quote:
if a woman doesnt want to take a chance on getting pregnant then she should keep her legs closed. if she chooses to screw then they both need to accept the consequences.

I think that the death penalty is a good idea. if you came home to find that your spouse had murdered your children, what would you want? you would want him to be dead. also, another idea is that the person convicted of murder should die in the same way they murdered that person. like if someone slit someones throat, then they will be die by having their throat slit.

I think that if somone kills Another, they should be killed in the same way or drug behind a horse. (let them pick) I dont care if the person is crazy the only reason to kill another is self defence. The bible (wich im sure im going to be bitched at for quoting says) an Eye for an Eye. if that mother fucker raped my mom put his ass in a big tank of fat dudes who havnt had any in a long time. I think that Even Mentaly retarted people who kill others should be killed.
American history—
Quote:
10 Greatest Americans in History
------------------------------------------------------------------------
George Bush - saved the world from terrorist domination.
George Washington - Father of our country
Abraham Lincoln - The Great Emancipator
Thomas Jefferson - Cool dude and founder of UVA
FDR - I'll include one Democrat
Ronald Reagan - the greatest president of the 20th century.
Teddy Roosevelt - Didn't put up with any shit from the pansies.
Thomas Edison - This guy was friggin amazing.
John Adams - no brainer
Ben Franklin - a little gay, but that's ok

i b'lieve that Abram Lincoln fella was a jew too.

And Abe was also bisexual - he was a mess.

It's a free country. You can think whoever you want to think is the
greatest, but if your going to put Bush, or even Reagan, ahead of
Madison, Monroe, U.S. Grant, Dwight D. Eisenhower, M.L. King, Andrew
Jackson, and dozens of others of far greater significance in defining
our country, I have a right to think you are nuts.

By the way, Ben Franklin would have easily kicked Bush's candy ass from
one end of this country to the next. He was a real man, not a poser
like Captain flight suit, or the candy assed AM Radio pussies who try
to hype him into something he clearly is not. Teddy Roosevelt wouldn't
have tollerated his act for a second. I can understand REagan on the
list, as he had some truly great qualities, even if he does not belong
anywhere close to the top ten.

Elizabeth Cady Stanton had 'shits' smarter than Bush.

You're all idiots. What about Muhammad Ali? There's no doubt in my mind he
was the greatest. And let's not forget one Ralph Hinkley. Then there's P.T.
Barnum, who created the Greatest Show on Earth. And finally, there's Charlie
Brown. They even made a movie about how great he was.

How amazingly ignorant are you of intellectual history. The facts are the facts. Thomas Jefferson was a Deist if there ever was one. Let me provide you with an excerpt from one of his
letters.
http://odur.let.rug.nl/~usa/P/tj3/w...brf/jefl261.htm
Read this one and make believe that Jefferson was a traditional Christian.
And you should read Adams' blasts against the Christianity of his day.
It's one thing to be a conservative. It's quite something else to be
smoking wacky weed and not know it.

But I might add to the list in the bright light of a new day:
Oliver Wendell Holmes
John Marshall
Aaron Copeland (composer of "Appalachian Spring")
Fredric Remington (the painter of the West)
What about inventors like:
Eli Whitney
Alexander Graham Bell
Dean Kamen
Robert Fulton
See. You can go on and on and make a case for many, many great people
that this country has produced. It's too bad that we are regressing now
toward a close minded theocracy where new ideas and bold new ventures are
discouraged. "Core Values", whatever that means, and bland confomity are
the watchwords today.
And some of the debate on such matters as the current cultural war betweens some members of congress and the judiciary was first rate. It opened with this salvo—
Quote:
There is nothing in the Constitution that even comes close to suggesting
things like abortion, gay marriages, human embryo expieriments, affirmative
action, restrictions on the death penalty, environmental protection,
restrictions on gun ownership, banishment of any religion from all things
related even closely to government, restrictions on educational choices and
allowing judges to over rule democratically voted-for laws. Judges also have
ZERO say when it comes to national security issues--things like telling the
elected government how treat enemy combatants and even where to keep them.
The will of the people--no matter how wrong it may be--must never be
subverted by an elite few. Those of you who like having judges telling you
how to eat, sleep and procreate can move to Canada if you like that sort of
thing.
If the elected by the people, for the people government screws up they have
this thing called an election to remove them from office. Or they can be
tried and thrown out of office immediatly. BUT the amount of people who
blindly go along with what ONE tyrannical elitist judge says or does are
either really stupid or just plain lazy and you will end up getting a
non-representaive government in the end.
There followed this reply—

You don't know much about the separation
of powers, do you.........

Quote:
And who is an "enemy combatant" - besides
who the Big Government you distrust says, that is.
The will of the people--no matter how wrong it may be--must never be

Quote:
And your preferred remedy for unconstitutional legislation is......? Maybe this piece of a civics lesson from George Bush in 2000 before he was elected? "The legislature's job is to write law. It's
the executive branch's job to interpret law."
And another reply—
Quote:
The judicial branch is a dynamic that exists in our government, but not
so in dictatorships or other governments overrun by a single entity's
power. Your argument is that judges have no business doing their jobs,
but you're 100% wrong. Checks and balances...that's the primary idea
behind what our government was founded on, and it's what our children
learn to be the dynamic that makes us as great of a country as we are.
You would have them believe instead that judges should play no part in
our government and that the President or Congress should be able to do
whatever they want?

A trend right now is admonishing individual judges for interpreting the
constitution in a manner that a group in our society disagrees with.
On the issue of gay marriage, the rule we govern ourselves by is
'liberty and justice for all'. Meaning, your feelings on something
shouldn't prevent another's liberty. That gay marriage may disgust or
disappoint you cannot have anything to do with someone else's life.
Your opinion and religious belief is rightfully yours, but that doesn't
give you the right to limit the freedom or liberty of another based on
your beliefs.

If suddenly my opinion on life was what someone else was required to
live by, we'd no longer be the USA. We'd be something else...in fact,
something we evolved from to begin with.

If Congress passes a law that creates a second-class citizen, it's up
to the judicial branch to correct that and deem it unlawfull. Sure,
the majority of Americans may believe one way - but the construct of
our government is the way it is so that mob-rule doesn't replace checks
and balances. There were people arguing that blacks should have
remained second class citizens in the 60s, and those people were wrong.
The courts ruled and people were angry about it, just as you're angry
about their ruling on gay marriage...but that's the system we have, and
your opinion can't limit someone else's ability to live how they
please.

The idea you put forth in your post is that the judicial branch is
alright as long as it rules in a way that fits into your idea of how
things should be. That unpopular rulings shouldn't be, but this is why
they're a judge and you and I are who we are. They earned the right
and were appointed to their position because in our society it's not up
to you or I who gets to do what, but instead it's up to the document
written and ammended for the past 200+ years. If you disagree with the
construct, then perhaps you're living in the wrong country. If you're
pissed that judges don't agree with your point of view, then that's
simply a dynamic that's existed in our society since day one. It's
nothing new.

People like you are just the Alabama segregationist-types for this
generation. Life will go on, and you'll always think you're right, but
I'm sure the judges could care less. I'm glad that's the case, because
mob-rule is old-school and archaic. The law is the law, and this
country doesn't belong to any specific group of people. We've all got
to live together.

Whoa... That's quite a collage. Makes me glad we all have this place. A safe place to have real discussion, not some rambling idiot who likes to read his own diarrhea-of-the-mind spewed out on the computer screen. Guess I'm just lucky to have gotten so many intelligent posters to hang out in here. Thanks guys.
