I totaled by 2002 Ford Focus this past weekend, no injuries thank God..
Any reccomendations for a new car? As you can see from the previous car the budget rules out a lot of models! Need a compact to midsize car that gets good gas mileage. The Focus fit that bill at the time because Ford was giving $3,000 off the sticker and it got good mileage.
What are some good web sites to compare features, gas mileage and invoice prices ect.?
Anybody know of any good factory incentives?
This sucks! I hate to hagel with dealers and it's worst when you're not prepared !!
If you're looking to get good gas mileage, I suggest looking into a gas-electric hybrid. There aren't too many out right now, Honda has hybrid Civics and Accords. A good place to get start researching is www.hybridcars.com.
You can get a hybrid Civic for less than $20,000 and you'll get close to 50 MPG. That's not too shabby.

The Consumer Reports book has info going back for years and years. It's hard to beat a HOnda Civic in that range...I have 180,000 miles on my accord and it's as tight as the day I bought it.
Ya know, as unfortunate and stressful as losing a car is, I also drive a Ford Focus (2000) and often hope someone totals it. I've been researching cars in hopes of getting rid of it, and if you don't mind something older and used, I'm partial to mid-90s Hondas, late-model Toyotas, and I'm becoming a fan of Hyundais.
<----- now $.02 poorer

In reality, we've been a Toyota family for some time. At one time, we had four drivers and four Toyotas. They've all lasted as long as we wanted to keep them with no problems. Most were approaching 200,000 miles before finding new homes. Our kids have gone on to get other makes but not Mrs Q and myself.
My $.02 worth. Hmmm, wonder if Toyota pays for endorsements?
The Hyundais Elantra was one of the cars I looked at when I bought the Focus Zx3.
Honda's and Toyotas are great cars but can be a little pricey, although I guess you get what you pay for. I know people that have just a rediculas ammount of miles on those makes...
The RS is the 2.5RS Impreza , it is the non-turbocharged version of the WRX. I love the baja, a lot of people think it's ugly (I can't blame them) but it's an all around good car a little bit more than a focus though, but you can get it w/leather and a turbo which is nice
The E39 M5 was also the first M car powered by a V8 engine. Featuring the S62 engine, the new M5 was the world's most powerful sedan. With 400 hp at 6600 rpm, the M5 distanced itself from its nearest competitor by no less than 30 hp. With a monumental 369 lb-ft. of torque at just 3800 rpm, the M5 delivered stunning thrust virtually throughout its wide rpm range.
The most powerful 5-series sedan has a naturally aspirated five-liter V10 engine producing 500 hp and a seven-speed SMG gearbox. Zero to 100 kmh is accomplished in under five seconds.
Compared to the normal 5-Series, the new M5 is more aggressive in appearance, thanks to subtle yet effective design modifications.
A small rear spoiler, large alloy wheels and the M5's trademark four-pipe exhaust system compliment the rear end design, signifying that this is once again the king of sport sedans.
Besides the engine developments, Formula 1 technology is carried over to the seven-speed Sequential Manual Gearbox – another first for BMW.
The next-generation M5 is expected to make its way into European showrooms by autumn of this year, with North America to follow soon after.
They are moving toyota camrys around here at the price of Corollas, around $14,000. Admittedly not as sexy as a BMW or a WRX, but a very reliable car. I've seen this in York and Chambersburg, PA.

BMW has released the first official information on the 2006 M6. The M6, like its close sibling the M5 sedan, features a 507-hp V10 engine that makes over 100hp per liter. A 7-speed SMG transmission can shift 20% faster than BMWs previous SMG systems and offers 11 different driving programs from tame to wild. Extensive weight saving measures include a production-series-first carbon-fiber roof. The net result should be a coupe with super-car like performance. BMW claims 4.6-second 0-60 times. The M6 will arrive in the US for the 2006 model year.

I know most people will boo me on this, but... I love Fords!
My ford taurus (160 hp) gets 33 miles to the gallon. My last one was a 200 hp and got around 26/27ish mpg.
I'd recommend the ford five-hundred. Its a hot car, 200 hp, probably pretty good gas mileage, and not tooooooo expensive. Good luck, and glad you're not injured!

Work hard and you can eventually get there.
Not always! Sounds good, though!
I said 'can', not 'will' get there
It takes a bit of luck too.

I share a special bond with my car
A friend of mine said recently that if you bother to spend a lot of money on a car and you don't turn back to look at it as you walk away, then you wasted your money. I agree with him (and I look back every time I walk away from the car ). Of course, he just purchased an Aston-Martin V8 Vantage, so he'd better look back.
OK, the Aston Martin... now that is an AUTOMOBILE. One of the sweetest rides I've ever laid eyes on.
Maybe if you spent more time on your female relationships and less time looking at your BMW, you'd have a date or girlfriend or spouse...
I still laugh when I hear the old joke "What's the difference between a porcupine and a BMW?....."

It's a nice looking car.
I saw a V12 Vanquish on display not long ago. Very nice.

Who says I haven't had a date recently?

I'm occasionally on the outside as well
Having lunch with the nurses down in the hospital cafeteria is not a date. Telling them that like Trent Reznor, you 'wanna see them from the inside' because you're a radiologist is not a pick up line.
