Beautiful. It is also Cherry blossom season in Japan. (coincidence? Actually the washington cherry trees are from Japan, I believe) But vbery nice. Too bad you cannot have hanami parties is the US.

Cheers

Nice pics, E. My brothers live in Virginia, close to DC, and we were down there a few years ago at this time. It is certainly a beautiful site to see.

Yes, they did come from Japan. I believe they have twice come from Japan when the first batch died out... can't rememeber why. When the cherry trees bloom, the Japanese celebrate the Sakura Festival, a tradition that some Japanese groups have tried to begin in the US. We have this on our campus.

aaaah, hanami - good call Peter. Few things nicer than strolling down a sakura-lined path with someone special.

Then again there are those nightmare hanamis with coworkers. And if you worked at someplace like I did you've always got those 50 something guys (oyajis) getting sloshed and saying some incredibly stupid thing about Viagra to an office girl

Eric - the answer is simple: You are not meant to study on such days but to go out and track down a coed and pack a picnic.

You should see the undergrads these days..I mean, I hardly feel old but good lord have the times changed!
I grow up when girls are into grunge and wearing flannel shirts..
Now its halter tops and short skirts as far as the eye can see. When I study outside I tend to drool on the textbooks.
my parents came to visit and unfortunately missed the blossoms by about 3 days. I told my mother i'd go back and take pictures so she could see them in all their glory!

The skirts there are often short enough that you don't need one, believe me

Guys these days just use their cell phones to snap pics or take a vid and send it to their pals. Sneaky little bastards.

Since we are on the Japan theme, here's a couple of pictures I took this weekend at Himeji Castle (sorry, no skirts)

And the infamous Hanami Parties. Believe it or not, this was AFTER the crowds went home...

Phitz, you think that's a crowd? Come up to Tokyo during sakura season and stroll around Ueno Park

Himeji is pretty cool, only been there during the sweltering summer. Always fun to read up on the history of these places - mind blowing.

Thanks for the pics

LOL yes, Tokyo is insane. I used to work near Shinjuku-gyoen. That park was packed during Hanami season. Seriously, it was like one petal per person...

It's nice to be in Kobe now where there's a little room to breathe
