4/16/05, 10pm est on ppv live!

Official Fight Card

Randy Couture vs. Chuck Liddell
Matt Hughes vs. Frank Trigg
Georges St. Pierre vs. Jason Miller
Mike Van Arsdale vs. John Marsh
Patrick Cote vs. Lee Murray
Travis Wuiff vs. Renato Sobral
Matt Lindland vs. Travis Lutter
Ivan Salaverry vs. Joe Riggs

I got Randy and Matt to win, I don't know enough about any of the other fighters to make a judgement. It is going to be an awesome UFC gentlemen!

Alright here's some of my picks. Like Rev I know very little about some of these fighters, but I'll give it a whirl anyways and see what I come up with.

Couture (I think this fight could go the distance and cardio will come into it.)
Hughs - Anyone fighting Trigg I will cheer for, BUT after seeing a couple of Trigg's videos from last night this could be a good match.
Pierre
Marsh - no nothing about these guys.
Cote vs Murray is actually off if I remember. Murray is having problems with a visa. Don't know on this one.
Wuiff - no nothing about these guys.
Lutter - Lindland just isn't that good in my book. Would rather watch Tanner any day.
Riggs - I think this fight could be pretty good as well.

Joe Doerkson is replacing Murray vs Cote.

my picks are in bold

Randy Couture vs. Chuck Lidell
Matt Hughes vs. Frank Trigg
Georges St. Pierre vs. Jason Miller
Mike Van Arsdale vs. John Marsh
Patrick Cote vs. Joe Doerkson
Travis Wiuff vs. Renato Sobral
Matt Lindland vs. Travis Lutter
Ivan Salaverry vs. Joe Riggs

Yeah everyone is betting on Randy so I gotta go with the Iceman. I think Chuck has had enough time to prepare for Randy's game. Sure he has looping punches but if one of those babies connects that could be it. The deciding factor is if Chuck is willing to let his hands fly. If he's too concerned about stuffing takedowns than it could be the end of him, but let's hope he lets it hang.

Trigg's mouth and head are just too big. He may be the wrestler with a better pedigree but Hughes has been in there with better. Just a toughass farmboy with good subs

Guys I watched the old Trigg and Hughes fight last night, it was actually on FSN. Liddell fought in it too against this black dude named something tiger or some shit? Anyway, it was pretty badass...Hughes and Trigg were going at it and Trigg ends up on the boddom with Hughes in his gaurd and Hughes works up on to his feet still in the gaurd, and fucking picks Trigg up, carries him around on his back for a good five seconds, walks to the center of the ring with him and SUH-LAMS him down on the canvas. It's in one of the pictures I posted above but seeing it in video was so freagin cool. Liddell knocked out that tiger dude also with a punch to the chin.

Randy Couture vs. Chuck Lidell = Couture
Matt Hughes vs. Frank Trigg = Hughes

I don't really care about the rest so long as they're good fights.

Yeah a hard night like last time they fought and Matt physically picked him up and threw up up on his shoulder and walked around the ring with him and then body slammed him. Matt has my full confidence, whether it's quick or a battle Matt comes out with the belt.

Rev, did you see how Frank KO'd Charuto? Matt barely squeaked out a W over him.

I don't think Matt will manhandle Frank this time. Matt had a real tough time with Sean Sherk, and Frank is every bit as good a wrestler but much bigger and a better striker.

He may just have Matt's number. I hope not, but he may pull something off.

I'm going to see Henry Rollins tonight - that should set the tone for an intense weekend

They have the weigh in photos up over at MMAWeekly. All of those guys are looking Ripped. Couture especially.

I think the Trigg and Hughs fight is going to be a battle. My predictions stand that Hughes is going to win. He's been working on his stand up a lot so it should be a good fight. Perhaps this one goes to a decision.

Weigh in Pics

Is it just me or does Randy look thinner than usual? Maybe he just cut more weight than normal... Chuck looks in good shape. Hope he has that sparkle in his eyes like he did vs Tito.

I dunno, Trigg looks cut and ready to go - it may be a tough night for Hughes. Let's hope Matt is up for this one.

Now I've got the cerveza, who's got the chicken wangs?

It'll end, and it'll end by knockout.

Chuck is the man!!
His punches rarely look like much, just short hooks but damn, right on the button. He really did his homework on Randy's game and knew how to counter the clinch work. Props to Chuck for great execution.

How about Hughes coming back for the sub!$@! I thought Trigg had him out against the cage. What that really showed was Hughes's mental strength and Trigg's lack of it. That was fun.

Damn those were some great fights! 4 ending by choke... been a long time to see so many battles ending like that - I like it!

Overall I lost in betting with my wife (she bet on Chuck & Hughes) but ah well I owe her a sushi dinner.

Hey boys what did I tell ya? My boy pulled through, a country boy can survive. Take a knee to the nuts, punches to the head, break out of a choke, pick the ol boy up an carry him across the ring an choke him out in a rear naked choke. It doesn't get any better than that boys, what a champion and one tough SOB! Great fights!

I didn't do the pay per view last night so I've been reading the stories online. Sounds like the Hughs fight was a good one and he ground it out. Glad to see him get pissed and take it to Trigg. He needs to get mad more often.

The Liddell and Couture fight I couldn't see how Randy got knocked out and then I saw that animated gif that Kuri has. Kudo's for Liddell. He deserves it. Over on Sherdog they are saying that Randy was a step slow. True or not? Perhaps it's time to hang up the gloves and start training more champions.

Can't wait to watch it tomorrow (someone recorded it for me).
