My brother (5 years older) has never seen them live (this is #7 for me). I took him to see Sammy and the Waboritas last fall, and he was blown away. He even timed his rotator cuff surgery so he could make the show.
The ceremonial first shot of Cabo Wabo Tequila is at 3:13 pm BST [Bill Standard Time] (second shot to follow at 3:14!)then our driver will be taking us to the venue (thou shalt not drink and drive). We got the 5 star package so it's private party time, first dibs on overpriced merchandise (need a new black concert t-shirt) followed by sound check and then front row seats (never seen Sammy or Van Halen from farther away than the 11th row!).
A very inspirational band for me, the first time I heard them I was blown away...then a bit later I painted my guitar with that black background and yellow stripes.
Okay, how about a little VH trivia game now eh? Who wants to start!?
Alex graduated from Pasadena High School in 1971 and attended Pasadena City College for a brief period of time, where some of his classes included music theory and scoring and arranging. Some of Al's early bands, all of which included Edward in the mix, were The Broken Combs (who performed lunchtime concerts at Hamilton Elementary School and featured Alex on saxophone), The Trojan Rubber Company, Genesis, and The Space Brothers.
On the Bob and Tom Show, Alex said their very first band was called "The Sounds of Las Vegas". 'Course he may have been a bit drunk...he just chugged an entire Heinekin (sp?).

What famous rocker is responsible for producing the first studio recordings of Van Halen (rumor has it that he also tried to recruit Eddie into his band...currently on tour by the way).

Bill
Wasn't that Gene Simmons?
Correct!! (I'm starting too feel a tad geekish here.)
Frankenstrat was the guitar...it was made from parts from other guitars (strat body and various necks and then Eddie made the frets himself)

That would be car horns (from the band's cars I believe) slowed down via effects in the studio.

Big, Bad Bill
I think it was Eddie's father that played the clarinet on that track. Jan Van Halen.
.....is Sweet William now.
Correct! Give yourself $500.
