Trainiac,
A couple of issues...
First, being a trainer myself I feel like your signature shows a glaring lack of compassion or empathy. One thing that would really help you with that is to volunteer a little time coaching the special olypmics. I know that it is only meant to be humorous, but it just feels wrong coming from someone who has "trained people with Lupus, Cerebral Palsy, Lipodystrophy, Fibromyalgia, and Diabetes, as well as a group of morbidly obese teenagers." This isn't an attack, just an observation. I guess it hit a nerve on me because I have worked with those kids before, and I am just being oversensitive.
The second thing is something I should bring up in the training forum. It regards your stance on static stretching, which is a topic of much discussion on this forum.
From your site:

Always, always, always stretch. Stretching improves flexibility, blood flow, muscle recovery, low back pain and a host of other things. Additionally, stretching can prevent injury, make you sleep better and improve your performance in all sports. Always stretch, but be certain not to stretch cold muscles. You should always warm up before stretching. However, it is very important that you know how to stretch. Never bounce! Your personal trainer will show you the proper execution and timing of your stretches.

So I don't hijack Kuri's thread completely, let's discuss that in the training forum. Why don't you start it to open it up to discussion? Basically I disagree with your advice about stretching. Just so you don't think I am picking on you, I agreed with all the other advice you gave on that page. This one just jumped out at me because it has been such a contraversial topic over here. I would like to hear your reasoning for this advice.
Now, to get back to Kuri's original statement...
I am working with the governor and his staff on their individual fitness/nutrition programs, and I am indirectly involved with the Healthy Arkansas Initiative. I say that because it hasn't really fully formed yet. I am hopefully going to have some hand in the final picture, but any assistance I give will pretty much hide behind the scenes. We (the gov's council on fitness) are going to be awarding cities and towns in Arkansas with "Healthy Community" awards for doing things like creating walking trails and/or other initiatives to improve their health and physical fitness.
We may be at the bottom of the statistical spectrum in terms of our collective poor health, but we are also now involved in some of the most ambitious efforts of any state in the nation to change that. I am heavily involved in this effort, and very proud of what has been done so far.
