Wow! That is one story that has captivated my own imagination since I was a kid. What a find, even if it is not Atlantis... Finding ancient cities tells us so much about where we came from, and what technologies we had that were lost for centuries.

Another Atlantis? There are so many “possible” sites.

The most interesting theory, to me that is, is that Atlantis is actually South America. It actually fits everything Plato said. It is believed it was divided into 10 kingdoms. It is where Plato said, if you go further then some of the researchers think that is.

And they actually found an area that had man made rings of water around a mound they believe contained a building. The reason for the rings actually make sense because they actually have a water highway in South America. Manmade rivers actually cover large portions of South America.

It is known that they had contact with Egypt because they found maze (or corn) in a pharaoh’s tomb.

Now on another similar topic, I was shocked to find out that that there was a massive jump in the ocean levels about thirteen thousand years ago. I am talking 400 feet jump in the ocean levels. That would mean all civilizations on the coasts were destroyed. And the coasts were, and still are, very popular places to live.

They keep finding ancient references to about 12,500 years ago, or 10,500 BC, which matches Plato’s time of destruction of Atlantis. That would be most devastating to a society that relies on the ocean.

I won’t say Plato’s story is true, but something happened. And Plato may have at least taken real events and merged them into a story that was important for his time.

Regardless something devastating happened, and it may be a long time before we truly know what was lost.

Graham Hancock has done some fascinating work on Atlantis and other ancient civilizations lost. Dates he quotes are also around 10,500 BC.

One of his theories involves Antarctica, of which hyper-detailed maps have been found which were made hundreds of years ago, most likely that Greeks copied from even earlier sources, most likey Egyptian - which then leads to those whom might have established advanced civilization around 13,000BC corresponding to the geological age of certain Egyptian monuments.

I can never get enough of this stuff!
