An early Happy Birthday goes to Quercus (most of us know him as Brad), who despite having completed a half a century on this earth next Thursday, looks damn good and can still kick my ass!
However, a felicitous salutation would not be complete without flashing back three decades or so, to see a young and happening Brad in the very cool 'do and (no doubt) bell bottoms:

THANKS for remembering! I should be trying to forget.
Forgetting starts to happen without trying on the other side of 50
Hearing (but those concerts were FUN!) and seeing are already on the way out!

I'm still not certain I'll do it but one of our members here suggested I should go ahead and post the workout pics again like I did last year. It feels pretty dorky this time but I will probably do it anyway... hey, I have no shame. I promise this will be the last time at least until I hit 60!
Guess I'll snap some off during my w/o and post after lunch. Unlike last year, I don't have the lipid profile because I'm delaying going to the doctor for the annual checkup. In case you didn't already know to be looking forward to this, 50 is when they send you to go get your COLONOSCOPY!!!
The good news (?) is that I got my AARP card yesterday!!! Just in time for my discount for the room we need to go to a wedding next weekend! WOO-HOO! SENIOR DISCOUNTS!!!
P.S. Got Los Lonely Boys on my MP3 player for the gym! Along with Stevie Ray... sweeeeeeeet!
All you needed to do was to save the clippings from the haircut which followed the pic posted earlier in the thread-----there's enough there to cover even the largest bald spot
For my 50th birthday, I wanted to try to be able to do a sternum pullup. I didn't make it but I'm sure, with Bill'd guidance, I greatly improved the strength in my back! Also, we don't have a regular straight bar in the gym to even try it from but here's where I wound up:
I've not stopped working on the back but I've gone back to do more FULL ROM pullups. BOTTOM OF PULLUP

Yes, I vary it but I don't do WIDE! Shoulder protection concerns that may or may not be founded. I also vary grips but the neutral is the most common for me.
A big Happy Birthday for my comrade! You really REALLY don't look your age. We should all be so lucky. I know, I know... It has nothing to do with luck. You take great care of yourself. You just make it look so easy!

It beats last years pic where you were sitting on the bike. Which reminds me...where's the "50" tank top?
Bill
I kept debating on whether to take any pics or not and, in the end, just got rushed for time. I thought about adding the "50" in later at the computer but had the same problem.
I haven't been biking much anymore. I've been RUNNING as of late... not jogging (plodding)around but doing kind of a interval training thing where I walk part, jog part and sprint part. I did it last summer during the heat of summer and I really enjoy being able to move relatively fast once in a while. The knees can still hurt occasionally but, thanks to you, I've learned how to manage the time without totally giving up doing those kinds of things.

Once again... SPERM & EGG! My mother has always looked younger than she is so you are right, I'm lucky in that regard (pi$$es my wife off, though ). The rest is thanks to all the great help I've gotten over the past few years from guys like you!
If russ reads this, he'll especially get a kick out of this. Today's our anniversary but we need to visit Yvonne's (my wife) mother who has been sick. We looked for something to do while we're in the Houston area and I found a concert at an outdoor venue... Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire. Too bad it wasn't The James Gang or someone like that but still very 70's and I'm sure we'll enjoy it a lot!

TS, the hell with candles... I had SHOT GLASSES!
Yeah, those concerts in the 70's did take their toll!

Are any of the original band members still alive? They both have big horn sections----those guys must get short of breath nowadays
When I was in Hilton Head Island last month, Bad Company was playing at a local bar. We were going to go, but the pre-wedding party we were at ran a bit long, so we went to the Canadian Ballet instead
Brad,
Sorry I missed this one. Happy Birthday, belatedly. 50, wow that is old. Oooops! I am 55. Nah! Just a young whippersnapper. Anyone who can use the word whippersnapper is REALLY OLD.
In Fitness & Friendship,
Mahler
