Out with the details!

Is it close, good equipment, etc?

Congrats on finding a good gym - it sure helps stay on track...

I'm going back today, so I'll take pictures and post them. The specs:

--Halfway between home and work, so five minutes from either place.
--On the small side but NEVER crowded (I was in there yesterday from 6p-730p and never saw more than four people)--they've been there for two years, so I'm not worried about them tanking.
--Has a squat rack and no rules against Olympic lifts (both have been big hurdles around here).
--Has a boxing gym, so I can always get back into that from my training in Charlotte.
--$40/month for month-to-month membership (next cheapest in the area was $60 for a Bally's/Gold's environment; the $10/month gym didn't allow "bodybuilding" or "powerlifting"--both said with a scared/snotty attitude--same place that had 20 pizza boxes open at the front door the night I checked it out).

Granted, the free-weight equipment is minimal--one squat rack, one flat bench, one pull-up/dip station, and a large DB rack--but hell, if no one's in there, it shouldn't be an issue. The thing I like most is that I can keep this membership through, say, March, then bail on it when it warms up outside. Pictures forthcoming (guess I need to post some "after" pics of me, too).

Cool, sounds pretty good. I suspect from the sounds of it that it's not the gym for most people, but it would be cool for most of us. Especially with a boxing gym. I wish my gym had a heavy bag or two, and I don't even know what I am doing, I just know it's alot more fun than the excercise bike!

I would love to hook up with a boxing gym and take some lessons, but alas time and funding are not available.

Og.

Speaking of "not for most people," I can see CrossFit happening here in the future if we could just make some of those POS machines disappear...

Hmmm... heavy bag, exercise bike, heavy bag, exercise bike... yeah, heavy bag. Now, don't think they don't try to get some mainstream in there--I saw a few elliptical machines in there, always with some chick on it. Shame...
