Since we don't have any type of fitness forum, and I HATE MH, i'm throwing this question out here for you guys.
I know many of you are a bit older and wiser than I am and already have a fair bit of experience in the "real world," which I'm going to be entering very shortly. Here goes...
I'm currently working at an internship where I dress professionally (business and/or business casual) - I love it! The problem is the harsh New England winters. I need boots that I can wear with suitsand won't look like a total tool-bag with suits or dress khakis.
They would only be for getting around. Once I'm at the office, I'd switch into normal dress shoes. Something that I could use for non-work related situations would be nice as well.
Uggs (which I've hated for years) look SOO comfortable and I almost want a pair now, though in the US they're considered super girly and I don't think they'd go well with that hat of mine. In Australia, surfer guys wear Uggs more than women do. But that's a different discussion altogether.
Any suggestions, guys?

I just talked to my beloved bride who is currently in NYC at a men's shoes show. Here is what she told me the guys do in the city that she polled. They wear a pair of nice rubber soled shoes in either a black or brown. Think an upscale version of the sneaker. You wear those out and then change once in the office.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Hey deserve, thanks... the problem, though, is that in NYC they actually plow the streets and sidewalks. I need to trek through 4-12 inches of snow... still need boots!

Girl opionion: I like these, they don't look like you're TRYING to wear weather boots. Clean lines, classic, and you wouldn't really even have to change them once you got to work. I like these too, a little more rugged and would give better traction I guess

BOOTS?!?!?! Hell, don't you need to do real work to even own boots? Heh. That's NOT me, for sure! Besides, I don't know what real winter even is anymore. Like Deserve said, I'm still wearing my sandals outside to take the dogs out!!! Sheesh! LMAO!

I give! I would actually just go with something from Timberland. (I really do have two pair myself. . . .) Then, just change shoes when you get to your desk/cube/office.
You're looking for FUNCTION here, not necessarily FASHION.

ODBSGIRL knows the value of a quality hiking style boot. Timberland makes some great stuff. My first hiking boots were timberland and lasted about 10 years. The sole will be gripper than the blunderstones (or whatever they are). Since they are needed for traction in the snow and will need to stand up to water they would be my choice also.
I also have to agree with NYGUY. Hiking boots rule!
