I would find it hard to beleive there is actually somebody out there who has not seen any of the Star Wars movies except I do know somebody who claims she has not. I would start them off at episode one, explaining the actual sequence the movies came out and George Lucas' genius of putting them out that way.

I would start with the original ones from years ago since that's when the saga began. Without those as a base to build on kinda takes away from the new versions I think. Kinda starting in the middle. But hey, that's coming from a Star Trek fan...

Is this even a debate?
Start them with IV, of course.
Skip I and II altogether, and jump to III.
Or, if you wanna take advantage of the theater experience - I can give the OK to watching III first, then hitting 4, 5 and 6.
Start with IV, period. To be honest, had Lucas released episode I first, I probably wouldn't have gone back to the theater for II, and I may have lost all interest. That being said, I actually did not see II in the theater and I'm glad that I didn't spend the money, although I do now have it on DVD -- it was a gift. Also, I just saw III in the theater and I've been itching to do a IV, V & VI marathon ever since.

Yeah exactly. If someone hasen't seen them, and maybe dosen't know this. Hard to believe, but if it's the case and you start them off at 1, in Episode 4, when kenobi says Vader betrayed and murdered your father, duh. and in Empire when Vader reveals the truth, Search your feelings, you know it to be true, you'll miss all that fun too!

This is a little more work, but worth it. Trust me.
Watch IV, then watch V and hit FF when the ewoks show up, and stop when Luke burns the body of Vader, avoiding the Ewok party. Watch VI because you need closure.
Skip I altogether, and watch the last half hour of II. If you choose to watch I and II, it is mandatory to hit MUTE whenever Jar-jar shows up. Go see III in the theatre.

Or, what about the conversation between Yoda and "ghostly" Ben Kenobi on Dagoba:
Yoda: Told you I did. Reckless is he. Now, matters are worse.
Obi-Wan: That boy was our last hope.
Yoda: No. There is another.
One question about that, though. After seeing Episode III, why doesn't Ben know that in Episode V? I mean, he was right there when Luke and Leia were born. He even agreed to separate them. That small point has been bothering me. Did he forget? Or, does he just not realize that Leia also is strong with the Force?

No No No, you can't skip the movies. They may be slower in pace, but it makes the whole thing come together.
The Darth Maul fight scene is by far the best of any of the 6 movies.

IV - Episode 4 - A new Hope. Death Star Plot
V - Episode 5 - Empire Strikes Back. Hoth, cloud city, Vader is father, dagoba plot (NO EWOKS!)
VI - Episode 6 - Return of the Jedi. Well Return of the Jedi. Second Death star, EWOKS.
So Fishy my man, you could FF in V when the Ewoks show up I guess, but you'd be waiting ALONG time! I am sure you meant to type VI and not V there though.
I hear they turned Anakin at the end of VI into Hayden? Can anyone confirm or deny this?
