I am SICK AND TIRED of people saying, your skinny, you need to eat.
No one ever told me, hey man you fat, you need to eat less!
I mean hell, what do they know about proper diet, about proper weight, about body fat? JACK!
What have I done for the last year and a half? Learned about all that stuff. Fitness, lifting, cardio, stretching, nutrition all of it. Do I know it all? No. Do I know more than they do? Yes. Yes I do.
Sick and tired of your skinny.
You know what, maybe I am. Am I dangerously skinny? No. Am I healthier than I was when I was fat? yes.
Do they have any clue about my long term body goals? No.
I currently eat 3000+ cals a day, so sorry if people can't see that, don't have a clue how much I do eat, even if 90% of it isn't shit.
ARGHHHH!!!!
PEOPLE PISS ME OFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Og.
Thank you.
(Yes I know in the end it means they care about me, but frankly I have heard it all about a million times.)

Hey, bro, I know EXACTLY what you mean. My wife keeps telling me that she likes right where I am -- not any bigger, but not any thinner either.
Am I fat? By no stretch of the imagination, but I would like to get rid of these pesky "love-handles".
After a while you'll get so used to those "people" that you'll be able to ignore them wholeheartedly and eventually they'll realize that you're bound and determined to achieve the goals you've set before you. You can trust me on one thing, though. Once you achieve your current goal, most of them will probably tell you that you look better than you ever have.

If I remember correctly, Og is one big mofo'. By that I mean he is really tall. I think he is about half the man he use to be - he has lost a lot of weight which probably prompts the responses he is ranting about.
Og - what are the current stats?

Wow! you have worked hard and made some tremendous changes obviously. You don't look too skinny. Maybe it helps to hear otherwise? You are doing great! Now I am scared that by saying that, you'll keep losing so I must qualify that you don't need to lose much more, if any.
This country has a majorly fucked up view of fitness, health and nutrition (although I suppose that's all one and the same, really), IMO.
If I pick up a Big Mac extra value meal, that would be considered totally normal and nobody would say anything.
But if I crack open some cottage cheese, that's crazy and weird and I don't eat enough.
If I spend 10 hours a day hunched over in chair staring at my computer screen, that's OK. But if I ever hit the gym twice in a day that's "unhealthy" and a clear sign that I'm obsessed.
You should really check out "Supersize Me". Fascinating movie. One of the more interesting points, I thought, was the notion that the media promoting "skinny" is unhealthy and bad for kids growing up (esp. girls), whereas corporations pumping out fat, unhealthy images (mcdonalds, coke, etc etc) are not criticized at all.
I hear ya, I get the same thing. You wouldn't think that 6'1" 190lbs is skinny, but after they get to know you fat and see you lose most of it, it makes them feel better to say you are too skinny.
Og,
This is kind of O/T but I've heard you've been looking pretty skinny lately. Maybe you should start eating the Supersize meals at McDonald's, and don't forget the ice cream afterward.

Ok well lately I have been known to eat a fair bit of ice-cream on the weekends.
Yes I realize I probably don't need to lose much more. I don't feel that I am obese or even fat. Just not where I want to be.
Where I want to be will involve adding muscle.
The first 2 phases of the MF beach muscle series is a couple months of bulking and I am planning on trying that. SEE YA IN 4 MONTHS!
At the most I was 321. When I weighed myself at the start of this I was 307. I am now right around 207.
I haven't lost more than maybe 10 lbs all year. I was maybe just below 220 at Christmas.
Og.

I had one well meaning lady tell me this Sunday at church that I didn't need to lose any more weight. (She told me this six months ago as well) I have weighed 170 for the last 8 - 9 months. So again...I tell her...but I'm not losing any weight. And she gives me the all knowing look of yeah...sure your not.
Yeah...I get the "Your looking awful skinny" thing all the time. My sister in law actually looked at me after not seeing me in a year and says..."my God...what happened to you? Cancer?"
She's kinda freaky...so I didn't even bother getting irritated...just said..no...just eating and exercising right. (I notice she didn;t join us in the pool) ahem...I love being the only guy my age at the pool who isn't freakin ashamed to pull off his shirt. I work hard to be fit...and I AINT DONE YET.
But really...I feel ya OG...really...it gets old don't it.
My mom told me I need to work on my lower back and get my squat strength back up

Skinny compared to the oversized oafs that justify their gluttony with "large" , "big boned" , "healthly" and other self delusional euphumisms. So you little runt, the next time a large, big boned, healtghy person says your skinny, look them directly in the eye, laugh and say, "Yup , I guess I am, must be the HIV- then give 'em a big kiss."

Og, the old cliche' about "it doesn't matter what they think" certainly applies here. I imagine many or even most of us have been at the receiving end of those types of comments, and they are definitely irritating and frustrating. The majority in North America have a very warped view of what a healthy weight looks like.
