Default Bench height for BSS vs Static Lunge?

(I read the BSS vs. Static Lunge thread, but I didn't see this specifically addressed... sorry if this has been asked before!)

Just wanted see if I am doing these right. I've been using an aerobic step for the static lunge w/rear foot elevated. For my BSS, I'm actually using the seat at the lat-pull down machine (because, I'm in level 2 where BSS alternates with underhand-grip pulldown, and I don't want to move away and give up my spot!) So I think this is about typical bench height, though maybe a little higher. Does that sound about right for the BSS? Thanks!

Sounds right to me.
In my mind the difference is making your back foot "laces down" on the BSS where on the lunge you can still be up on your toe (IIRC). This foot use sort of dictates what height will work for me.

Sounds right to me, too. I always did BSS on the seat of the pulldown machine, as long as I didn't have anyone else trying to work in there.

Yep, that's EXACTLY how I do them too. Can't let anyone steal the lat pulldown station.

As the others said, that sounds right. I use one of the weight benches for BSS, leave my log book and weight plate there, then use the lat pull down, located in the next room. I leave my towel on the seat to the lat pulldown to claim my space. There usually isn't a problem as there's 2 lat pull down machines in that room, and a lighter weight one upstairs as well.

I use the lat pull down bench for both BSS and lunges with rear foot elevated. My gym doesn't have anything lower that that to put my foot on...

wow; that's high for the lunges! I use the smallest elephant stand, I think it's about 9 or 10 inches high.

And I also used the lat bench for BSS until I started using a BB; now I use a higher elephant stand for them; I think it's about the same height as the bench.

I'm right there with you. I use the same bench as well so someone doesn't come along a steal the machine. I had that happen between planks and horz cable. He wouldn't give up the machine either when I asked to cut in while he was taking a break. Now, I do the planks in front of the pulley system.

I do that too, with the planks and woodchops. I put the mat on the floor right under the cables for my planks, and when I do the woodchops I rest the mat on its side on the wall right next to me. One day I did that and when I started the woodchops a guy walked over and grabbed my mat! It was obvious I was using it. Some people. . . .you have to grab and hold your territory in the gym!

I just love all the pets all of you use in your posts! How cute!

Anyway, I use the low step for the static lunge and a regular bench for the BSS. Don't have the luxury of using the lat p/down bench cause my gym doesn't have a seat at it's lat p/down. I have to kneel to do them. I also mark my territory with towel and log book at one station while I go to the other, and put my mat there to alternate mat work with the cable machine.
