Default A healthy callous is a happy callous

This question is gonna sound really silly, but here goes: I have developed these totally awesome callouses on my hands. What do you do to keep them healthy? Do you treat 'em the same as the ones on your feet? My nightmare would be for them to tear off, as happened to a friend of mine. *shudders* Suggestions for callous care and maintenance?

Evie, thanks for this post, it's really made me giggle. My calloused hands are a source of much hilarity amongst my friends (so maybe I'm not the person it give you advise)!!

This is what I do to keep them in check:i) I give my hands a good soak in hotish water to which I've added moisturising bath oil. ii) use a body exfoliator all over my hands. iii) dry my hands and then gently use a pumice stone to get ride of as much dried skin as possible. iv) I then use a really good handcream (don't know if you can get it in the US, but I've found the BodyShop's hemp hand cream works wonders.

I used to wear lifting gloves to prevent callouses, but they didn't really work.

To finish...I've got to admit that I'm quite proud of my callouses, but try and keep them in check as they do have a tendency 'irritate' my darling man!

HAHAHAH! This, along with any lift that includes the term "snatch" - freaking hilarious.

I'm cool w/ having callouses-- all the better to lift heavy, my dear! Guess it's gonna be a lot like dealing w/ the feet. Just one more self-maintenance task to add to the list.....

If things get too rough, the ped egg works wonders.

Sally Hansen makes "Intense Callus Remover." You keep it on for ten seconds then rinse away. I follow up with a cream and calluses are GONE overnight.
