Talking Newbie...hope this isn't redundant ;-)

Hey Everyone...
Read NROL4W...Loved it! I need a little clarification please.
My stats are: 165 lbs. 5'3" 31 years old This is what I calculated as my calorie expenditure.
RMR = 1334
BMI = 29
Calories w/no workout = 2001
w/active workout = 2267
w/ strenuous workout = 2534

My goals are to loose fat and build muscle. I would like to loose 25-30 lbs by the end of January. I want to be in a bodybuilding/figure competition in the Spring of 2010. I am somewhat experienced in the gym. ;-)
I saw the two meal plans for 1700 and 2000 calories...I assume it is my choice?
Please let me know if my calculations are correct. Excited to start next week. (I am just getting over the flu...ugh);-)
I appreciate any advise getting started to reach my goals. These workouts look great!

Excited!
Stephanie

Welcome!

Do you have any experience losing fat at 1700 / 2000 calories per day? While past performance doesn't guarantee future results, what's worked for you in the past can probably help you determine if you can lose 25 - 30 lbs of fat by the end of January with either of those levels of intake.

If you're going into fat loss for the first time, you're not going to know until you try.

The meal plans are just samples, to give you an idea of what a day's worth of meals would look like at certain calorie levels. You need to pick whatever levels work for you and then create your own meal plans. Have you been working on fat loss up to this point, or is this new? Do you know what level you're currently eating at? I'd suggest to just pick a starting point and see how you feel (energy wise) and how you're doing (weight wise) and then adjust.

Good luck!

Hello Ladies...Sorry it took me so long...I have some experience in weightlifting and weightloss...I hired a trainer this spring because I wanted to be in a competition in April/May. He had me on a no/very low carb diet and two hours of cardio along with my daily workouts...Cardio 6 days per week and lifting 5 days.
I went from a 31% bodyfat to 18% in about 8 weeks. My weightloss wasn't great, but my inches shrank considerably.
He finally adjusted my meal plan and I was able to loose a few more pounds...

I wasn't able to reach my goal, so when I started eating "normal" my body exploded...I have gain everything back and am very frusterated!!
I did love the book...just wanted to get some experienced input!!

Thanks for your time and talk to you soon.
Many blessings~~~
Stephanie
