Pretty much the same answer really. If I'm due for a break, I take one. If I'm not then I suck it up and do the workout. Of course, I workout at home, so there's not the usual excuses.
Just a general question, but how does everyone deal with it when you JUST.DON'T.WANT.TO.GO to the gym?
I go and do what I'd planned anyway
I go and do a shorter version of what I'd planned
I go and do something other than what I'd first planned
I don't go and I do something else active (bike ride)
I procrastinate till it's too late to go
I don't go and I sleep in.
If there are other choices I don't know them.

Yes this pretty much covers everything. Most of the time I go anyway and I always feel better after.
Agreed. When I'm just not feeling it, I make myself go to the gym anyways. And generally I'll end up having a nice workout, even if its a scaled down version of what was intended.
But I definitely have changed into gym clothes, only to turn around and walk right out - maybe I'll do some stretching or foam rolling.
Well, I did drag my butt to the gym last night, but I did not do the HIIT. I was just... not right. Tired, irritable, almost feeling feverish despite any sign of an actual fever. I felt better after lifting though. No matter how much I hate planks!
A girl I know said this: "I've never come home after a workout and said, MAN, I wish I had NOT exercised today!"
When I'm in a terrible mood and feeling all around like dog poop, the gym is always the best cure. Once I get going I usually end up feeling much better and then there isn't any guilt for skipping my planned gym session.

She was right!
Wow. This quote should be taped up on everyone's fridge, door, computer, mirror, etc. It's GREAT!
If you need a day, take a day and then evaluate your reasons for not going to the gym: Are you overtraining and need a day off? Do you feel like you are getting no results and therefore, no motivation? Do you just not feel up to facing personalities at the gym? If you are in Stage One, are you just absolutely bored to death and ready to move on? After your evaluation as to why you want to miss a day, fix it and then go on your next scheduled day. You will feel better for it.
Usually, the hardest part of any workout is just making it to the gym in the first place. If it still doesn't feel right after I get there, I just do something short and low-key.
I had one of those days today....grrrr......after 5 weeks on holiday, it has been an extreme struggle to get back into the groove. Today was a day when I could easily have dove into a bag of chips and said the hell with exercising.
I pretty much strong-armed myself into going and like someone above said, once I was done, I was glad I had gone. Sometimes it's just simply getting through the door that is the hardest part. I think in addition to having personal trainers available, gyms should have a motivation offering of some sort......for $XXX they provide you with motivation. Then again, I guess motivation really needs to come from within, doesn't it? Maybe it's a pep talk that they should offer! (I can dream, can't I?!!)
