Default Step-Ups, Stage One

I need some advice on the step-ups in stage one. I am using a bench for these, but here is my problem. I feel like my legs are pretty strong, I started with 15# DB's and feel like I could do more but, my hands get tired from holding the DB's and my form suffers- I start to rest the weight on my leg or I lurch forward to get the weight up- am I using too much weight, too much bench height or what? I have tried putting the weights on my shoulders, but they get tired. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

It sounds like you are using your non-working leg for assistance and using your body for momentum. I would work on using BW only until you have your form down right and then slowly add weight.

See this thread from the FAQ stickied at the top of the forum for more info on step-ups:

You might want to read thru all the links in the FAQ to see if any of the links address any other questions you may have.
