Nice strawman.
A smiths machine is a piece of equipment. Its value lies in how you use it.
My use of it is purely from ease of use and safety standpoint.

The Smith machine is great if you want to use it for inverted pullups while you work your way up to a real pullup.

I agree, and for push ups at an angle. I don't know what I'd do without it.
