Default Another Protein Powder question

I recently bought two protein powder's - ISO Femme, one chocolate and one Strawberry.

Yesterday, post work out, I made a smoothie out of some strawberries, kiwis, and ice. Very simple. If you blend those on their own, you get a very delicious slushy type smoothie. As soon as I add the strawberry protein powder, it's so strong and makes the whole slushy very milky - even though I don't add milk.

Is this something all powders do?
It there a powder that won't turn my slushies so milky and is possible to get flavourless powder? I find the flavoured powders are so overpowering.

flvourless powders do exist, they are great for cooking/baking with. GNC has some, although there are much cheaper places to get them.
No idea what went wrong with your smoothie. maybe the kiwi reacted with the powder? Or perhaps because the PP contains milk protein (whey) maybe that made it milky? If so you may need to look at a soy protein (I can't stand the taste of these, its a bad aftertaste) or hemp protein.

Where can I get the flavourless ones?
Will they work in smoothies?

You can get unflavored protein powder thru TrueProtein.com, though I'm sure other places have them as well.

I am going to give it a go. Everytime I have a whey smoothie that I get from Starbucks or Freshly Squeezed, it tastes 1000 time better than mine!

Maybe the fruit just isn't enough to disguise the flavoring of your powder? I use plain, unsweetened whey protein powder. It works pretty well in my smoothies, but mine always have plain nonfat yogurt in them, so I wouldn't notice if the PP adds a milky flavor. My grocery store sells plain PP in the bulk bins, and most health food stores have it, too.

Maybe because of the ice? I don't put ice in my shakes so they're creamy but not milky. Then again I use soymilk too. The protein powder is a thickener too and it kind of absorbs the colors of the fruit...if that makes sense.

I don't like the highly sweet taste and added stuff in most powders so I use pure, plain Whey Protein Powder from Bob's Red Mill. You can order from their website or from Amazon. It mixes just fine in smoothies. I use frozen fruit (usually berries), sometimes a banana and either water or skim milk. The fruit is usually sweet enough but when it isn't, just add a spoonful of your own sweetener, like honey or splenda.

A milk protein concentrate or even a whey protein concentrate tends to maek a product a little thicker than a whey protien isolate. most likely some of the emulsifying agents used in the strawberry shake makes it differnet.

buy unflavoured, buy frozen fruit, mix with yogurt, honey and all is nice.
