Default Anyone do Atkins with NROLFW?

I'm nearing the end of Stage 6, and I love the program. I've gained a lot of strength, but I haven't been successful losing fat. It's time to cut. I probably have about 10-15 lbs to lose. I've never done the Atkins diet, but I'm thinking of doing Atkins with Stage 7, because I suspect carbs are a problem for me. Anyone have any experience with Atkins?

I wouldn't jump into Atkins induction while attempting stage 7. The first two weeks or so of a very low carb program (for most people) are going to crash you in terms of energy while you upregulate your fat burning processes and that really isn't compatible with stage 7 workouts.

If you want to drop bread or drop potatoes and rice from your diet, feel free. It will give you a little more deficit and you should still be able to get the workouts done and (most importantly) not become a slug-a-bed the rest of the day. Because the 23 hours you are not working out are also important.

After stage 7, if you still want to shred more, you could move on to a program like TNT where the workouts are designed with the no starch eating plan in mind.

Meaning, you tried the Atkins with stage 7 anyway? And found it hard?

Meaning, I tried Atkins with Stage 7, and found it impossible!

As a matter of fact, I found it difficult to conduct my actual life on Atkins, let alone lift. I admit, I did lose a few pounds, and I wasn't hungry, but my energy level was just too low.

I think I'm going to try the Body for Life nutrition approach. I don't have a lot of weight to lose, but I would really like to lose some of that fat around the midsection.

Many people have spend 2 or 3 weeks on LC before things level out and you feel like yourself and have energy. Others it is very quick and for a few they never feel right.

If you are still interested in cutting down on grains and starches, you might try TNT. It is a meat & veggies program at first (no berries in TNT A ) but the workouts are written knowing you are on that eating program and the eating plan knows you will be working out.

I had really good, quick results with the belly fat just by lowering starchy carbs. I gave up bread, rice, pasta, etc. and limited fruits for a while. Lots of veggies, though, then after a month or so I added back in fruit because I really missed it. Lately I have been eating more starches again, and sure enough, my midsection is bloating out!

x2. I have been limiting starchy carbs and getting 95% of carbs from fruits and veggies (carbs are at 25% of total diet). I've been doing this since just after starting NROL4W and feel great, lotsa energy. I feel crappy everytime I introduce starches again. Of course, it's doesn't help that Ho-Ho's aren't the most nutritious thing evar. Evil Ho-Ho's and their evil deliciousness!

Aren't you the one who gave us that Oreo Truffle recipe?

I told my boys about it. Big mistake, because of course they begged me to make it immediately. I had to promise them I'd make it at Christmas, since it sounds like such a Christmasy thing to make! Maybe they'll have forgotten about it by then.
