Question gearing up to go...

I'm new to this forum...and to NRFLW. It's been a LONG time since I lifted weights...about 6 years! My thyroid went haywire and I gained almost 70 pounds in like 6 months! Anyway, it's been a 6 year struggle with WW and cardio at loosing - gaining - loosing - gaining weight back. My thyroid has to be adjusted every 9-12 months...UGG. I'm praying this is the answer!

So...my hubby and I put together our gym today and I want to plan out meals for a week...but I'm a little confused on the macronutrient % thing...how do I figure that out if I don't have a meal from the book? How do you plan your meals? Do you figure things out the night before and make sure you're in a specific field? My biggest problem is putting the right foods and amounts of foods together. I understand weight lifting and the concepts behind that portion...I'll have no problem there other then motivation ...but food is confusing!!!!

If you have any tips or thoughts please share...and sorry if this doesn't make sense. I was up all night and am REALLY tired.

Rachel

PS...do you post progress photos here? Training logs? Share meal plans or recipes?

1. Plan your food the day before in Fitday or Sparkpeople or the site of your choosing. Make sure you have enough protein first and then fill in the rest.
2. Training logs go in the Training Logs forum
3. Recipes go in the Nutrition forum
4. Read through the FAQ stickied at the top of this forum for any NROL4W questions
5. Browse through the rest of the forum...lots of good stuff

There you have it: Jane is first at bat as usual. She always has a good answer.

I'd only add, you can post your pics in your own training log, and if you link to it in your signature, people can get to it easily.

I had trouble with the food thing at the beginning, too, and I found Fitday to be extremely helpful. If you have labels for foods you eat a lot, you can put them in as custom foods, so they are easy to log later. I customize almost everything. It will figure out your macros for you, and give you a pie chart graphic so you can see easily where you are on any given day, as well as overviews for lengths of time. You can look at your average calories and macros over a week, two weeks, a month, or two months. I also log my weight and waist size on Fitday, since those are the two numbers I want to track the most. Then I can see a line graph over time of how those numbers have changed.

Good luck, keep us posted.

THANKS for the welcome!

At the top of this page, click on JP Fitness Forums; then scroll down until you see The Training Log forum. Click on that, start a new thread with your own title, enter whatever info you want people to know about you, and voila! Your training log.
