Not at the same time.
If your husband is gung-ho for the two of you to do P90X together, I'd do that. The *fun* of doing it together can only help you both. Either will give you results. NROL4W will always be there when you are done or if you don't like P90X. But give it a shot - why not?

(just my opinion, YMMV).

If I had px90 I would have done it first. Like Lisa said NR will be there when you're done. The px is the shorter of the two and will probably give you a nice base to start NR with. Good luck!

I haven't done all of P90x, but I've done parts. In a former fitness life, I was a fitness DVD junkie and I traded for / bought some of the P90x workouts.

I found it to be an excellent program, and Tony is hysterically funny. If you're into it, I'd give it a go.

People on other forums I frequent have had tremendous successes with P90x.

Either way, I think you win

Hi milosom,
I have a few thoughts for your post.

so I'm not an expert by any means, but if you say you are 200lbs and want to lose 60, I'm wondering if that is a healthy and realistic goal. How tall are you? You could probably use a calculator somewhere online(try shape.com) to figure out a healthy weight loss goal.

Also even if you are going to start doing the p90 first I would recommend reading NROL4W sooner rather than later. It can help you with nutrition questions you might have, you will be able to ask questions on anything you might not understand, before you actually do it. This website is full of great people with great advice.

As far as which program you should do first, idk I have never done p90x, but i really love NROL4W. THe advice that allforlove gave you sounds great.

What ever you decide, good luck with your workouts and keep us posted!

Milosmom:

I did P90X last fall with my husband. While I thought it was a pretty good program, there were a few things I did not like about it. One thing was that they want you to work out 6 days a week, total time of around 7 hours. Some of that is cardio, but I still felt it was too much for me. I got burned out standing in my living room watching DVDs and sweating. I also did not care for the yoga segment. It's 90 minutes long and has novices doing things that could cause injury. I had back strain several times from doing the yoga workout.

I like NROLFW better because it takes less time and encourages the use of heavier weights (P90X encourages women to use lighter weights for higher reps to avoid "bulkiness.")

I have had much better results with NROLFW than with P90X, personally, but everyone responds to different things.

Good luck!

Wow, thanks everyone for all you input.. A little about me, I'm 5'7" gained weight with both my pregancies and kept the weight that i delivered at with each of my kids (thank god i only had 2)lol.. i ran for a year and a half didn't lose anything, zero, zilch, nada weight, stopped running for 5 months to work part time at my sons school and gained 16lbs.. quit the job and started running again and went 95%raw/vegan and lost those 16lbs in 6wks.. now i'm stuck back at 200lbs the weight i delivered my son at 13years ago..(i don't know if my body is happy here..but i'm not) I think i will start with the NROL4W.. like you say i've been doing the dvd's at midnight in my livingroom after everyone has gone to bed.. (so much for getting to bed early and getting the best hours of sleep).. If i do the weights i can do them first thing in the morning in my basement out of everyones way and head out for a walk or run later in the day.. Think i'll try that.. Thanks again everyone, i'll keep checking in and give you's a heads up on my progress.. ttl

Sounds like a good decision. Good luck with your work outs, we're all here if you need us! btw Don't be discouraged if at first you dont lose weight with NROL4W. You will be building muscles and reshaping your body. I have been doing the program for about a month now and I have not changed on the scale, actually I have gone up a little. But I am already feeling stronger and more confident in my body. Like the book suggests, don't pay attention too much to the scale, look for clues in other places, like how your clothes fit, what other people notice, the fact that you'll be able to run around with your kids and have more strength and energy!

take care ang good luck!!!!

Hi, yup - thyroid is fine.. my b12 was low. Then i talked to a friend about how i was feeling, she mentioned something about a preventative medicine clinic thats in town... I told them how i was feeling - the guy ran through a checklist and said it was Adrenal Fatigue, so i'm starting to take something for that + i also bought the book "Eat to Live" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, changed my diet (that's why i lost the weight i gained) no sugar, no dairy, no meat + no processed foods.. I felt the BEST and Look BETTER - But now for the last 4 weeks i started to not be prepared and let those foods back into my life while i'm out with friends and i can FEEL the CRAPPY difference!!

i went from not watching what i ate and not exercising, to watching and exercising and there's no difference in my weight (people notice a difference - probably lost some inches - but nothing to write home about) I'm still wearing all my same clothing never changed sizes. I don't know i went from eatting 2 meals and drinking 6 coffee aday to eatting every 2.5hrs and drinking water, lost the weight that i gained but now i've slacked on eatting every 2.5hrs, and i'm stuck at 200lb.. it sucks to eat all the time - who likes eatting when your not hungry (i wasn't hungry when i ate 2 times a day and i wasn't hungry when i ate 8 times aday) (funny thing is that since i'm 200lbs and can't loose i think everyone i know thinks i eat all the time)?? How's that for a slap in the fat face!! oh what ever!! i guess i gotta suck it up, eat more often and workout hard..(maybe walking/jogging wasn't enough for me??) i thought something was better than nothing but i guess not.. This is going to drive me nuts - if i would have taken all this wasted energy thinking about my body and put it into lifting??

My partner showed up with p90x, too. Only difference is that I continued NROL4W, and he quit p90x!

Give us an idea of your daily diet. What are you macros like? Calories? Are you weighing your food? Do you know what your maintenance is so you have a basis from which to work?

There is more than jsut one school of thought as far as how often you should eat. For some peole it's not how often you eat so much as how much you eat. You will have to work hard and eat for your goals, but for you that could be more about hitting your calories and macros than it is about eating 5 or more times a day. JM2C

I starting following the "Eat to Life" principles and lost the 13.5lbs that i gained.. Then i started to slack again.. so now i'm getting back on track with that.. No sugar, No dairy, No meat, No processed foods.. i went 95% raw vegan and it's the best thing i've ever done for myself..

My daily food log looked like this:

6:00 vanilla protein powder, ff soy milk, flax oil, frozen strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries + fresh spinach (in a blender)

apple
watermelon
banana
grapes

Noon: salad: romaine, spinach, mushrooms, cauliflower, brocoli, carrot, cucumber, walnuts, canned mixed beans(rinsed), and a drizzle of some sort of dressing + heated soy patty

watermelon
cherries
apple

dinner: same salad as above with a soy patty/or no meat chicken breast

maybe another fruit or protein smoothie depending how i felt

also use raw veggies w/tofu dip
apple slices w/almond butter
baby carrots w/hummus
and brown rice / sweet potatoes

almonds, peanut butter, flax oil, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds.. for my fat

the fruit + veggies for my carbs.. my body seems to be using these better - i don't get bloated, and crampy like i do when i eat bread and pasta (i think i'm wheat/gluten intolerant).. after starchy carbs including whole grains.. my stomach makes these god awful noises like i ate a whole small person and their trying to get out (really embarassing around people) and 1/2hr later i have to unbutton and unzip my pants?? real bloating.
