when I get to week 3 the last workout I start doing 3 set x 10 reps...do you do for example like this?...I mean do you make your third set by repeating the first exercise?
Workout A – 3 sets of each exercise – 10 reps
Squats 3 x 10
Push-Ups 1 x 12
Seated Row 1 x 12
Push-Ups 1 x 12
Seated Row 1 x 12
Step-Up 1 x 12
Prone jackknife 1 x 12
Step-Up 1 x 12
Prone jackknife 1 x 12
OMG, this isn't that hard. Three sets means 3 sets.
3 sets of squats, 3 sets of push-ups, 3 sets of rows, 3 sets of step-ups, 3 sets of jackknifes.
Did you read the thread in the FAQ about how to set up your workouts??????
WOW, I'll have to say this will be my first and only post on this board
I just started NROLW last week and am enjoying it. I have been reading the board and learned a few things. Glad I can find some faq's, videos of form etc. Learn from other peoples experience, etc. That's what forums are about, correct......
As I stated above this will be my last post, the above response is totally uncalled for. If you thought the question was stupid, ignore it........ let someone else answer. It makes me never, ever dare to ask a question. Way to encourage people to use the board.
I'm an active poster on another (non-fitness) related site and the newbies are free to ask questions & people answer - never are they told it's stupid, it's been asked a thousand times, etc. There it's all about learning, helping, sharing, etc. The newbies become experienced & help out. Too bad I don't get that feeling here.
If you think people here (especially missjane) are discouraging and don't try to help new people then I guess you haven't actually read any of the threads in the FAQ or outside of the FAQ in the subforum.

Vent off......
If your post is in response to missjane's response, you're so far off the mark it's not even funny. She does nothing but try to help people day in and day out. On top of that, I didn't even get that vibe from her response at all. If anyone is out of line, it is you. Stick around, keep posting, this forum is one of the nicest and most accepting on the net.

Really? Not even from this part?

And yes, I'm a newbie, but I've read enough to know that MissJane has answered this question, very patiently, a billion times. That first line actually doesn't sound like something she would typically write. Maybe she's just having a bad day.

There is no such thing as a stupid question, but most of the time, you can get your answer by reading the FAQ's and the stickies at the top of each forum, and last resort, use the "Search" function.
Damn, it's a hell of a lot easier to get good answers here than when I was young in the dark ages. I actually had to go to a library, check out books and journals and *gasp* actually READ them if I needed experienced information.
Now, MissJane just directs me. I just love the interwebz.
Thanks, everyone, for the support. For the record, I directed the OP to the FAQ and how to set up the workouts in ANOTHER post she started asking the same question.
Yeah, I saw the other thread she posted in, too. That's why I thought English was not her primary language, because she obviously didn't understand your answer, and started another thread asking the same question.

Library??? What's that?!?

Can't believe I've been guilted (thanks Topaz and DAA) into doing this, but here's what you would have found in the FAQ stickied at the top (so much for that)...all of stage 1 laid out for you in the very first link:
Stage 1
Week 1
Workout A – 2 sets of each exercise – 15 reps
Workout B – 2 sets of each exercise – 15 reps
Workout A – 2 sets of each exercise – 15 reps
Week 2
Workout B – 2 sets of each exercise – 15 reps
Workout A – 2 sets of each exercise – 12 reps
Workout B – 2 sets of each exercise – 12 reps
Week 3
Workout A – 2 sets of each exercise – 12 reps
Workout B – 2 sets of each exercise – 12 reps
Workout A – 3 sets of each exercise – 10 reps
Week 4
Workout B – 3 sets of each exercise – 10 reps
Workout A – 3 sets of each exercise – 10 reps
Workout B – 3 sets of each exercise – 10 reps
Week 5
Workout A – 3 sets of each exercise – 8 reps
Workout B – 3 sets of each exercise – 8 reps
Workout A – 3 sets of each exercise – 8 reps
Week 6
Workout B – 3 sets of each exercise – 8 reps
I support you too, Jane. You are always answering the same questions over and over, and are the queen of giving the links for things. I have to agree, too, that the set up of the workouts isn't that hard, if you actually read the book. It's all laid out there, too, it's just a matter of thinking about what the words actually mean, and looking at the examples. I think people read too quickly, and don't go back over things at all. Many people will say "I got this book yesterday, and finished it and am ready to start, but I don't understand. . . ." Well, you can't really read it thoroughly in one night and expect to understand it!
Heh, heh...sorry for the guilt trip. I've been reading up myself since I stumbled upon the board, and like I said, I've seen you answer this question many, many times already! I admire your patience! And, by doing so, you've cleared up some questions that I didn't even know I had!!!

I'm new to this site as of today. I can completely understand the importance of reading before asking as I must do that everyday in my line of work. However, while I do not have much experience with the many many cases of MissJane helping others, I have seen many posts that appear to support the claims of most that she is an enormous help to a lot of new people.
When I read the post with the comment of "OMG ..." (being a new person and not knowing the history there) I too took that as she was very frustrated and I too would have taken offense and was a little put off. That being said, I understand that she probably did not mean it as it came across. All of us being adults, I am sure that we ALL realize that everyone's perceptions are different. It may have been a bit too harsh but as someone said prior, she might have been having a bad day.
I appreciate your post laying out the first stage. As for the FAQ STICKIED AT THE TOP, I must be blind because I do not see it. The only Faq I found was a link to search for information.
So for those of us that are new to using forums, please be patient. For those of you that jumped automatically to a negative perception...try to remember that not everything that is written is always meant as it reads. It is just like e-mail... WE HAVE ALL DONE IT! (FYI-I wasn't yelling, in case there was some confusion there).
Hey now I get it! When u say at the top of this forum, new people like me may not realize that u might have to go back a page or two to see the sticky's. That makes a huge difference.
It does get confusing for newbies, with so many different forums, sub-forums, threads, and pages within threads. I often find myself lost within pages and links and sub-links. When all else fails, I click back to the top-level forum, "JP Fitness Forums" and start over. It also helps to subscribe to threads you want to remember, then you can go to your User CP and see them there.
Anytime you post in a thread, you automatically are subscribed to it. If you want to manually subscribe, click on the "thread tools" link above, and click "subscribe to this thread."
You'll figure out things as you need and want to do them, and I have posted some really silly questions about how to format posts, or make links, and post pictures. So don't be afraid to ask.
