Default So what can I expect?

I'm starting NROL4W today and will follow the program regardless. But, I was wondering what I should realistically expect? I have seen several posts in here that state this is not a fat loss plan, but what then IS it? Solely for strength?

I am at 15% bodyfat now (5'9" and 150 lbs), and while fat loss isn't my MAIN goal, there still are certainly some areas that need improvement. I want to gain more muscle definition, but not grow out of my clothes. I've been stuck at a size 6-8 for months now and have clearly plateaued - that's why I am hoping this program will jumpstart that! I'd love to finally get down to a 4-6.

Thanks to anyone who responds!

It's what you make of it. The workout is one building block. For fat loss, diet and other activities are other building blocks.

While it may not be marketed as a fat loss program, that doesn't mean you can't lose fat while you're doing it. It's my flab beater of choice currently, in conjunction with diet and swimming.

I'm a little over 1/2 way finished with stage 1. Prior to NROL4W I followed a slow burn program for about 7 months and prior to that did strength training 2-3 times a week, working with a trainer (primarily machine based).

My brief history: 50 year old female. Obese most of my adult life. Have removed 90 pounds from a high of 300 over the last 2 years or so. Would like to remove 50 more. Have been stalled for the last 6 months. Consume 1800-2000 calories on average.

I really didn't think there would be that much difference switching from a slow cadence/high weight/machine based program to this one. I was wrong. I continue to be amazed at how different my muscles feel, how different I feel in general and mostly, how working with body weight/free weights causes so much more muscle stiffness/soreness than I ever got with machine lifting. My balance has improved also.

As far as fat loss/inches loss - I don't have any numbers to provide at this point (scales make me crazy so I only weigh periodically). I plan to weigh/measure/take pictures the first of August. I can say that my jeans feel loose again and that people have been commenting that it looks like I've lost more weight.

From my experience and from what I've read, I think you'll find that if you stick to this program, you will see results. The bottom line that I've found is that I need to find a program that I enjoy and that has enough variety that I don't get bored. This one seems to fit the bill for me right now.

Good luck!

Three workouts shy of finishing Stage 5. I think you can realistically expcet to view your body in a whole new light by the end of the program. If you give it all you've got and challenge yourself(without hurting yourself of course) you can expect to gain strength, confindence and a new outlook on weight training in general. Good luck and have fun!

I like your attitude.

I used to get discouraged because I had unrealistic expectations about what I wanted my body to be, and I was unable to achieve my goals.

Until I got a dose of reality, and realized that the mental changes I went through are so much more valuable to me than looking like I was 25 again. Gaining strength and the confidence that goes with it is the beauty of lifting.
