Default newbie with squats question

Hi, I'm starting NROLFW soon, but have a question. In Stage 1, Workout A, it says to do squats p.157. Ok, on p 157 it just has "squats" with no pictures, but on several pages that follow there are several different types of squats pictured and explained, so I'm not sure what type of squat I'm supposed to do. Please explain and thanks in advance.

Back Squat - barbell on your back, squat to parallel.

Thanks for replying, Lisa. So how come the other squats (including the dumbbell squats) are shown? I guess I was hoping someone would say I could do any, I'm afraid of looking silly trying to figure out how to get that bar on my shoulders! Oh well, I tried!!

there's a rack to do that. if you don't have access to a squat rack or power cage, then either dumbbell squats or front squats would be better from a ease and safety standpoint.

check this webpage by Krista at stumptuous.com - it was soooo helpful for me and shows a squat rack in Step 3.

I've been doing dumbbell squats through stage one - they're working just fine for me.

I miss the bar for the deadlifts though, and I plan on getting a bar as soon as I can afford to.

If you look closely, It's not just a plain dumbbell squat but one with heels raised on plates. You will do this one in stage 7.

Same goes for all the other variations. If it just says "squat" its a barbell squat.
Stage 2 has the front squat.
Stage 3 has the dumbbell single arm overhead squat and partial single leg squat
stage 4 has front squats and a split squat
stage 5 has the dumbbell single arm overhead squat and partial single leg squat
Stage 6 has a barbell split squat
and stage 7 has the DB squat with heels raised on plate

HTH!

I would actually love to be able to barbell back squats. But working out at home, and not having a squat rack.... I just do front squats.
