With our road trip plans turned up on end, K & I find ourselves making some last minute vacation plans that include (as usual) paddling and camping.
Generally, mother nature kicks my ass and I just keep going back for more - but this year BOTH of us are in better shape thanks to starting this program. There will be much hiking, kayaking and exploring the west coast - I'm looking forward to discovering how my body handles it in comparison to our kayaking trip last year.
I was wondering if any of the posters here took up new recreational activities that would have send them scuttling for the sidelines a year ago. For me, the options are opening up: With pull ups comes the possibility of rock climbing. Longer portages. Whitewater canoeing. Mountain biking in the Rockies.
Does this count? wearing over 50lbs of baby (only the blondie is mine). But seriously this is something I tried to do when they were smaller and just couldn't manage. Now it feels easy.
I signed up for the military, does that count? LOL
Before NROL4W I couldn't do guy pushups. Now I can do 3 sets of 10 easily, and when doing the first set I feel like I could do explosive ones! I've never tried mind you, but I can do pushups with my feet elevated.
accomplishing this made me feel physically ready to join the military.
I just signed up for a twice-a-week, 12 week bootcamp class. I used to scoff at people who did bootcamp, wondering why they heck anyone would want to do it. Now I am excited about it, and am actually wanting it to be really hard. Does that count as daring?
Yeah ... now I look forward to lifting those full cases of copier paper instead of avoiding them.
HA! That is awesome. I'm revelling in everyday lifting challenges too. Bags of groceries to carry 6 blocks? Piece of cake! I used to take a cab. Now, I wouldn't waste such a practical challenge.

Yep, I'm totally the same. I was just thinking the other day, as I was carrying my load of groceries home (including cans, glass bottles, vegetables - all the cool heavy stuff!): I wonder how heavy this would have felt to me a couple of years ago? Or even a year ago.
I also like lifting a box or something at work, and a guy saying, "Here, let me help you with that", and I reply, confidently, "No thanks, it's not heavy. I'm strong!".
