Default Limits to strength?

I was just thinking about this -
Say I can do a lat pulldown of 80lbs right now (15 reps). If I add 5 lbs every couple weeks in a year would I be able to lift 120lbs more than that or 300lbs? Or would I eventually hit a wall and not be able to increase any more. I don't even think the machine goes up to 300lbs.

Well, you can't go to infinity! You progress in many different ways....less rest, more reps, different set schema's........strength programs, hypertrophy programs, etc. Change things up, challenge the body in different ways. It's not always about the "number".

There is a strength ceiling that your body can achieve, but it's hard to get there, I think.

Your advancement won't stay linear either. At some point it'll take longer and longer to advance, and your advancements will be smaller and smaller. When you just start, you can make encredible gains, but when you get better, you'll have to work harder and harder for those.

If you're done with the pulldown machine, you can move on to chinups or pullups, and then to weighted versions of those
