Default Quick formatting question

How do you get links in your signature, like the ones many people use at the end of their posts, that link to their training logs?

You go to User CP then edit signature and a box comes up that let's you enter what you want. You then use the link symbol (world with chain links) to enter the information that you want to link to.

Ok, so I'm computer illiterate about these things. I got the link in there, but how do I rename it, so it says "go here" or something, instead of "http://blahblahblah"? Thanks for the help.

I'm sure there's an easier way, but if you go back into edit signature, just put your cursor in the middle and type the title you want - then delete the extra stuff off each end. I forgot to mention, if you want people to go to the last new post, you use a link like this:

So in your case, that would be:

*$%&*@# it cut off the full text. Basically after the word 'log' you put in -new-post.html

It does! Thanks! It seems weird that you can just change the link to something else and the link is still there. I wonder how that can work.

Don't know, but it just does. What's you're actually changing is the description for the link. Glad it worked.

Grrr...Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I tried to change my link to do the new post, and I couldn't get it to work. So I tried to change it back to just "mytraininglog" which was working fine, and now that won't work either! If I copy and paste the entire link from my log, it works, but when I go back into edit and try to change the long link to words, I get "can't find page" error. Every time. Could it be some glitch with IE 8? I have that at work where I'm trying to change it now, but home is IE 7, and that worked fine.

if I understand what you want to do, you want it to say
my training log
at the bottom where your sig is? but it doesn't want to show up as such?

Just to clarify, when you insert the link it should look like this before you submit it...

www. blahblahblah .com [/ URL]
without the spaces.

to change the wording but keep the right link, you just have to change the 2nd set of www. blahblahblah. com (the one that comes right before to whatever words you want.

I'm using Safari, so I can't say if it's a IE 8 issue...
Good luck!

This is easy. No need to use vbulletin code.

Go to UserCP and get rid of everything in your signature area. A clean slate is best.
Now get your training log URL on your clipboard.
Go back to UserCP and go to the Signature area.
TypeTheWordsYouWantToAppear like "My Training Log"
Now highlight those words with your cursor.
Now click the link symbol.
Paste in your URL in the box. If you see http:// starting in the box, delete it before you do the paste.
Done.

You do the same thing in a post if you want to supply a link and have words show and enable the link instead of the link itself. Type the words, highlight the words, clink for the link, paste or type the URL.

Thank you, Thank you, LisaS! You're right; that is the easy way. I have always wondered how to do this, I'm not very computer savvy.
