Default Does anyone use the TRX training system?

Hi there,

I did a search but did not see much. Does anyone have the TRX suspension system to use with bodyweight? http://www.fitnessanywhere.com/ I'm thinking about getting it since I like to work out at home and am limited by space and don't have a squat rack, etc. It is pricey but to me looks it might be a good investment.

I recently saw that Rachel Cosgrove recommends it . Anyone familiar or have it? Bobbie

I have it and do it on my off days and when I just want to play around outside.

Do you prefer the gym or do you think it's not as effective ? I'm wondering if it can be used for NROLW? Bobbie

Did you mean to post this in the NROL4W sub-forum?

A lot of us have the TRX, but you can't really do NROL4W with it.

Here are a couple threads on the trx.

Thanks for the threads( I did a search and they didn't come up)! Yes, I wanted to post it here since I wanted to use it to do various exercises at home... substitute for cable pulls ,lat pulldowns,....those kinds of things.

Why wouldn't it work w/ NROLW? Bobbie

Yeah, the search feature is a problem with little words like trx. I just happened to know where they were.

You can get a good and balanced workout with the TRX, but by the time you've changed things up to sub the TRX for DBs, cables, and barbells, it's not really NROL4W anymore.

Not to say it won't be good, just not the same anymore.

You'd probably get more mileage out of a pullup bar and some assistance bands as a lat pulldown/cable substitution. Then you could take those same assistance bands and rig them to your rack for "cable" rows. Or substitute barbell rows since you already have a BB (we assume). That's not to say if you cannot do a cable row, you can't substitute a TRX row for it - but you have to be intelligent about how to do it. As LD said, if you switch out every movement, then it isn't really the same program, is it? That said, I like my TRX for what it is and what it is good at doing.
