Smile Cable Horizontal Wood Chop

Hello All!

I started stage 2 yesterday and am having trouble with CHWoodchops. My gym's cable pulley is either up high or on the floor, no "midbody" height. I tried to do the chop on the low setting but my back protested. I felt the twisting in my low back and was a little nervous about continuing. Are there adjustments I can make to compensate?

My thanks to the sisterhood on this site who continue to advise and inspire me.

The pulley should be adjustable. Did you look to see if there was a pin knob on the side?

There is a variation with a medicine ball described in the book. I did that about half the time.

Our gym has the same pulley - ours is fixed with just an upper or lower attachment - no slider at all. I used a stretchy-band wrapped around a solid object (side-bar of a weight machine) for the wood chops. Thick band gives a decent workout...

Also, are you sure your gym doesn't have one of those smaller freestanding cable machines with the arms that adjust inward/outward and up/down? Forget the name, but you can use one arm of those for the woodchops.
