Default Preparation for NRoL4W

While I'm doing another rotation of CLX, I'm getting prepared to do a rotation of NRoL4W. Lots of preparation I'm learning! I'm reading the book & have already downloaded the tracking sheets that were made & shared by a generous person on this forum. I'm also reading the threads listed here.

I came across a thread that recommended the GymBoss to time the rest periods between sets. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend an interval timer application for the ipod touch. I recently discovered an app called "Routines". It wasn't very expensive ($2.99) & had some favorable reviews. It enables you to list your workout routine along with rest periods. I'm thinking the entire routine can be entered into the app with the rest periods for each stage. Has anyone used this app? Does anyone think an app like this would be beneficial for doing this rotation?

I'm very new to this. This is my first time working out without a DVD to follow & I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed. Any suggestions on organizing myself & the routines will be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Mel

I admit that I simply use my HR monitor to track rest periods. Of course I'm a numbers person, so if I see the time when I check it I can quickly add my rest periods to it. The app sounds good (and reasonable) although I don't know much about the ipod touch.

I wanted to share a pretty slick app I found for my ipod touch. It's called "Routine Timer" & was only $2.99. Much less than the GymBoss. It comes with preset workout routines or you can create your own. You can also time other activities and categorize them.

So far, I'm experimenting with it. I entered NRoL4W, Stage 1, Workout A. I entered each exercise for all the sets in the order that they need to be done (estimated the time it will take to do it) & entered each 60 sec rest after each exercise (if you finish early with the exercise, you can just touch "next" to move to the next item). It takes some time setting it up, but what's cool is that when you're ready to do the entire workout, it times down each exercise and the entire workout. It reminds me of the time in CLX.

I workout at home, but for someone who is doing this rotation in a gym, the app might come in pretty handy.

Two posts, and both of them are about this iPod app? This smells like advertising to me.

Gosh no, I wasn't adverstising for ipod. Sorry if I came across that way. I just love handy little gadgets & I guess my excitement came across as promotion.
Again, I apologize for any confusion.

I know, I figured someone would point that out. I'm just weird. I've been lurking a while, since I'm following NROLW, and I guess something had to be a first post.
