Default NROLFW after Weight Loss Surgery

I had gastric bypass 7 months ago and there is no possible way, at this time, for me to consume the amounts of food recommended in the book. I know that eventually I'll be able to take in quite a bit more food. I already consume around 70 to 80 grams of protein a day (mainly through protein drinks) but don't gt in more than 1000 calories a day. Nor is it recommend through my surgeons office for me to take in more than that though the day will come that I will. I've been doing some weight training so far (mostly machines). I'm cleared for any exercise routine I choose. Will I do damage to myself doing the intensity of lifting done in the book on a more limited caloric intake?

Someone with more knowledge may answer you. However, I seriously doubt you could do the program (as written) on 1000 calories. You might do better speaking to someone at your surgeon's office as they should have far more experience with it than anyone here.

I agree... I was on a 900 calorie diet before and my bariatric doc (and the program) expressly forbid strenuous activity, since 900 calories was just enough to keep me alive. I have not had surgery, it was the high protein Bernstein diet, and I was eating 200 g of lean protein a day.
Could you talk to your doc about your get-ripped fitness goals, and recruit her/his help & input? Perhaps set a goal weight for when you can begin lifting?

I think NROL4W is a much better long term solution than chronic under-eating though. I'll bet after you've lost most of your excess weight you're going to be WAY ahead of the game for starting NROL4W. Just moving around will be so much easier!

I assume you are already doing some easy walking every day. If not, I'd add that first.

You could probably do a strength program (like one of the strength programs from NROL) better than one of the rigorous calorie burning routines from either NROL or NROL4W on that sort of a deficit.

I'm betting it'll be way too much intensity. Many people have issues maintaining even a moderate deficit on that routine.
You could just use it as a way to choose exercises and do the exercises in the book for one set each workout, and see if that gets you something. You could ask Leigh Peele if OPT would work more for you since it's meant for lower cal/high deficit.

Try asking in the Fatloss Troubleshoot forum for ideas for a structured workout with your limitations. Leigh might be able to answer something that'd work really well for you without grinding you into the ground because of your reduced caloric intake.
