Question Stage 2 B Workouts

Hi all,

Tomorrow I complete Stage 1 (special workout B, hooray!) and will be taking a week off to focus on just cardio before starting Stage 2. I would warmup with 20 minutes on the treadmill before a Stage 1 workout, and plan to do so for Stage 2. I am curious whether or not any of you warmup with cardio first before doing the B workouts in Stage 2. I think I want to, but I'm wondering if it will be too much considering I have to do intervals too.

Also, this stage and the following stages are shorter than Stage 1, right? 8 workouts apiece?

Thanks!
Lisa

You don't want to do cardio BEFORE you lift......after, or on off days.

So does that mean I shouldn't have been doing cardio in the first place, or that I shouldn't be doing cardio for Stage 2? Should I not have done cardio on my off days either?

You shouldn't do cardio before you lift.

Read the section of the book called "other stuff to do" or something like that for suggestions for your off-lifting days.

I guess I'm not understanding the definition of cardio. In the book it talks about warm-ups: walking to your car on a hot day, or using the bike or treadmill for 10-15 minutes on a cold day, to get your core temperature up. I only do 20 minutes of jogging on the treadmill, and I feel like this gets me warmed up, with a little bit of a good sweat. Should I not be doing that because that's cardio?

If you are talking just some LISS cardio, then that's probably OK....if you are just using it as a warm-up. The point is you don't want to be tired for your lifting. You want to be able to give it your all. How about doing some dynamic warm-ups.....some jumping jacks, some dynamic stretching, glute activation and things like that. Then, do your lifting. If you feel you can do some higher intensity cardio afterwards, then go for it.

I do 10 minutes on either the elliptical or the treadmill before I start my lifting as a warmup. After the lifting, I do intervals on either the elliptical or the treadmill.

Cool, now I get it. I'm seriously not tired after the 20 minutes. I'm wiped after the lifting .

Thanks!!!
