Default Back-to-Back Workouts

I know you aren't supposed to do the NROL4W workouts on consecutive days, but what is the main drawback? I won't be able to make it to the gym today (Wed), but will have time on both Thursday and Friday. What is the main reason not to go both days, just this week? My husband has just started the NROL program and that book says it is okay to workout 2 days in a row, but no more. The workouts appear to be full-body workouts, just like the NROL4W.

Also, what is you opinion about going just once during a week? Is it worth it, or should I just chalk this week up to a week off and not try and workout either day? I only manage twice a week (although I usually do two workouts reliably and I've never done them back-to-back).

Thanks!

no down side to doing it this week.
As you suspect, since these are full body workouts, the thought is if you always work like M,T,Th,Fr you won't have sufficient recovery time between workouts (though that schedule would work for a different program, like an upper/lower split).

Try it. Work out on Thursday and then on Friday and see if you notice a difference in how the 2nd workout goes - or if you are just wrung out on Saturday

Haven't read NROL in a while to see the context.

To the other question: Something is always better than nothing I think but if you miss a week it won't be the end of the world either. You can always do a body weight workout at home so that you are not missing a workout, just not doing the prescribed one.

Thanks! I was thinking about trying it since I really didn't want to take this week off. I was looking forward to the workout, but something came up last minute today and I couldn't make it. I will see how 2 days in a row works out this time, although I don't plan to make a habit of it.

Well, I survived!

I was still very sore when I went in to work on the next day but, surprisingly, once I started working out my muscles felt fine. It is not something I plan on repeating often (or would want to try at the beginning of a new stage), but it worked and I got good workouts both days.

Just wanted to give an update.
