Default Bruises frmo weightlifting?

Yesterday I noticed matching bruises on the outsides of both arms. They are in the same place on both arms, a few inches up from my elbows. I can't think of anything I have bumped into lately. I did a little googling to see if it could be related to lifting. I couldn't find a ton of information but a few sources said it's a possibility if you overexert. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I just finished stage 3 yesterday, so it's not like I am brand new to this, so I am especially curious if others have seen this later in their program. Thanks!

Did you bump the weights into your arms doing one of the movements? Happens to most of us at some time...

I too had a bruise on my left arm in the same exact place as yours last week. It is gone now, but I don't remember bumping anything, but that could be the case.

I suppose I could have bumped against weights, it's just so odd I have it on the same place on both arms! I read a couple things that indicated you could bruise from over-exerting and popping some blood vessels, so maybe it is that.

...or mine could be from the barbell push press!

I can solve this mystery: the bruises are from the reverse woodchop. My arms always got bruised up from the cord.

Not for me - I am in NROL FLII and not doing woodchops.

BECAUSE they are identical on both sides, I suspect one of the movements...

I'd guess a cable or rope or whatnot that you keep managing to rub. Not a single bump, but a constant pressure or repeated pressure. Also, one often bruises more easily during fat loss because of the slightly higher estrogen in the blood (normally stored in fat), so that can make bruises appear from something that wasn't significant to notice at the time (similar to when girls hit puberty).

Interesting - so then it sounds like it could really be the woodchops since that is done over and over again and keeps rubbing the same place on my arms.

Thanks ladies!

I had gotten bruises on the inside of each arm from the reverse woodchops also.

Yep, sounds like the woodchops. I've taken to wearing long sleeves on those workout days

I got one on my thigh the first time I tried the step-ups. I'm thinking it was over-exertion -- I was stepping up pretty high.
