Red face breast implants and nrolfw

Hope someone can help. I've had a double mastecomy early last summer and had silicone implants since Sept. My Dr. said I can do anything I want. I did lift before my operation and started NROLFW in Nov. It's going great, but I'm a little anxious about going heavy. The push ups produce some "tightness/pulling" sensations in my chest. Does anyone have experience w/ heavy lifting and implants? I've searched the site and haven't had any luck, Thanks.

Go by feel, kaybar. You're not going to rupture them from lifting, but obviously there is a closed space and tissue expansion needs to occur. ALso, depending on where they're located--and I assume at least partially submuscular due to what you're describing--the muscle itself needs to stretch to accommodate an implant.

You're not that far out from your surgery so just take it slow. Silicone is way more forgiving than saline in general since it's malleable and deformable. Hope this helps.

A very good friend of mine had a single mastectomy and then started working out. She's been a gym rat for about 3 years now (cancer-free for 6 years!). If you like, I can ask her if she felt anything similar.

I can tell you that she found/finds it irritating that she is lop-sided now! Silicone doesn't shrink. You might be lucky...

And if you're in the gym, and had the double mastectomy, may I offer my congratulations on winning the battle!

My wife has had implants for about 7 years now, and is also a gym rat. In fact, she uses me to wipe the gym floor. I'll ask her tonight what her experience has been, but I don't think she's been limited too much, if at all.

Not sure if this fits you, but she apparently had some nerves cut during the surgery (it was unavoidable) and therefore now has no feeling of sensation near her armpits. If this applies to you, you may need to be extra careful when doing chest movements as you may not feel it when something doesn't go right.

Thanks all for your imput. As far as I can tell breast enhancement is different from total reconstruction, in that in a mastecomy they remove all breast tissue even up to the collar bone, that caused dents in my upper chest, and lots of nerve damage. Some nerves have regenerated, although, no feeling across my chest where the implants are and some limited feeling on the sides under my arm.

I'll just take it slow. I feel the pulling/tightness across my upper chest while doing push ups. I can eek out 5 from the floor before the pulling sensation forces me to move to the bench to finish out the set. Maybe I'm just chicken, but I get freaked w/ push ups. No problem w/ the bench press, up to 40lb dbs, incline that is.
