Question New training and eating plan...weight gain possible?

Last week was my first week into my new training and nutrition program in preparation for a fitness modeling competition in April. This programs seems to be almost exactly the same as the NROL4W program (exercise portion).
My trainer increased my calories from 1500-1600/day to 1650-1775/day, and I'm now lifting 5x/week with 2 HIIT sessions. I used to only lift 2-3x/week and did cardio 5x/week. I've also started taking Fish oil and CLA supplements. In addition to all of this, I'm allowed 2 cheat meals/week.
So, with this all being said, I feel like I have gained a little bit of weight. My clothes are slightly tighter around the waist/legs and I feel bloated. I haven't weighed myself because I told myself that for the first couple of weeks i'd measure my progress through my clothes, measurements, and body fat % instead, but this tightness in my clothes has me feeling a little discouraged.

I'm also trying to stop smoking (again! just started back up about 1 month ago) but now i'm worried that I will gain even MORE weight because of that! Any suggestions, advice, insight, etc. would be appreciated. I'm feeling quite disappointed and frustrated with myself today!

There are a couple of things that could be causing bloat. First, the increase in calories means extra weight from having more food in your system. Second, an increase in workout intensity means muscles could be holding more fluid. Your body should adjust after another week or so. Drink plenty of water.

Your trainer is probably trying to bulk you before the cut!

Do you trust your trainer to get you to your destination? Does he/she have a track record with others with similar goals? What does your trainer say about what you are experiencing (it is his/her plan after all)? Are you on your trainers plan 100% or are you messing with it? If you are on it 100% - why be disappointed in yourself? You are right on plan-- just check with your trainer about your expectations and his/hers.

Hello everyone -

Thanks to all for your responses. To answer your questions Lisa:

I'm trying to put everything aside and really trust myself with my trainer now. He said that what i'm experiencing is more than normal- i may gain some weight in the beginning while building muscle but will then begin to cut as we get closer to my competition. And another thing - you're right about following his plan and not beating myself up. I'm following it more than 100%, so I guess i just need to be patient with this process! I finally weighed myself - didn't go up or down. So today is my 15th day on the program. I'm curious to where I will be in another 15 days!
