If you are stuck, you need to change something up. You say you make healthy eating decisions - can you give us a better idea of your actual diet (a typical day or days)?

It might help you to actually weigh/measure everything for at least a few days or a week. Doing so has been a real eye opener about actual serving sizes and calories for many people here.

Start with the food. If you need to eat few enough calories to lose weight, then potentially 4-5 meals means too much food. If each meal is a small 300 calories, that means 1200-1500 a day. If they're 400 cals each, that's 1600-2000 calories a day. At 2000 this might be too much if you're trying to lose.

No, you don't need to get crazy about your food. But, you get out what you put in. If you want to not have to measure and weigh, then start taking out caloric dense foods and cutting back some. But be warned that you may compensate. Your body doesn't want you to lose weight, so it's not gonna make it easy.

If you don't want to weigh and measure, then at least be sure to look at labels and serving sizes to get an idea of what is dense and should be limited and what is not and safer.

And see if that gets you anywhere. It might. It might not.

Or, be crazy, weigh and measure for 2 months, lose your 10 pounds, and then move on with your life and be done with dieting and weighing and measuring.

Usually, when you're breastfeeding it is the easiest time to lose weight. At least in the beginning due the extra calories needed to produce all that milk. I was able to lose weight on an extra 500 calories more than what I would normally need to lose weight. But that was in the beginning. As the baby gets older and nurses less frequently due to the addition of solid foods, the demand for milk production and additional calories will decrease. So, maybe you ate more to compensate for the initial months of heavier milk production but have not really reduced calories as milk production has decreased. That could partially account for a stall in weight loss.

I know it seems really anal and nitpicky and a waste of time to 'get crazy' about your food, but you're going to waste more time and likely become more frustrated going at it haphazardly and wondering why you can't lose that 10 lbs. So, I say, get crazy. It is most likely the answer you are looking for.

First thing I'd suggest is don't change a thing - just track (weigh/measure/record) what you are already eating for a few days. You won't know where to change if you don't have an accurate starting point.

Get a good food scale - you can find one for not much $ at Target or WalMart or Bed Bath and Beyond. Electronic and weighs in grams are good features...
