Default Rests between stage 1 and 2

Does anyone remember how long the rest period is between stage 1 and 2 workouts? I don't have my book with me.

1 week is recommended in the book... but it is really up to you for how long and when you take your breaks. I am waiting 'til after stage 2 for mine.

So, would taking a break in the middle of a stage be considered a bad idea, or no?
Not that I would expect to lose huge amounts of strength in a week or anything, but I might not be as prepared to increase the weights on a workout that I hadn't done for a week + as I would be if I'd done that same workout the day before last, say. Right?

I ask because I'm going away for the last week of June and I'm just finishing Stage 1. I have a few options:

a) If Stage 2 is 8 workouts I could squeeze it in if I work out every other day without fail.

b) Either that or I spend 2 weeks doing something else (probably running/biking/yoga).

c) Or, I start the stage, get as far as I can, take a week off, and get back to it when I'm back.

Either way the 3rd week will probably be mostly resting -- maybe some light hiking or swimming or something.

Anyway, I don't really want to take off 3 full weeks from lifting, so what's my best option?

Start Stage 2, then pick it up when you come home. You're right, you might not be able to push the weights up much. Don't worry though, it comes back in Stage 4.

Yeah, I think you're right. I hate to take a break in the middle of a stage, but it's better than not lifting at all. Thanks.

Another option would be to continue with the stage 1 workouts for 2 extra weeks.

Oh that's true -- I actually hadn't actually considered that option. (I may have had a mental block against the idea of doing extra sets of dynamic lunges ).

I've had to take a week or more breaks every now and then in the middle of a stage. Without exception, I actually came back lifting as good or BETTER than before!

If you do regress some, I doubt it will be much at all.

Glad to hear this; I've been feeling weak the last three workouts, and can't figure out why. Maybe I just need a longer break. I know in the past with my workouts, taking a week or even two off has helped. I just didn't know if I should take one in the middle of a stage. I'm only in stage 1, workouts 6 coming up.
